Coming up we have a light heavyweight MMA rules bout between Jared Cowen (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Waldemir Warzecha (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Both fighters look fresh as a daisy as they make their way towards the cage.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 11 - 8 - 1, fighting out of Montreal, Jared Cowen!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 9 - 9 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Waldemir Warzecha!
The judges for this bout are Trevor Gratis, Elvis Blanc and Dillan Fox.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Cowen throws a body punch but Warzecha moves out of range.

Cowen seems to be moving with more speed, compared to his last bout. He must have been working on that in the gym.
Warzecha shoots in for a takedown - he's clinched up with Cowen but Cowen pushes him off and we're back to square one.
Cowen ducks right into an uppercut from Warzecha.

Warzecha shoots in with a lovely double leg takedown. Cowen manages to land in full guard to minimise the damage.

We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

Warzecha uses his free foot to push down on Cowen's thigh. Eventually he works his other foot free and he's advanced to mount - this is trouble for Cowen.

In the pre-fight buildup videos we saw Warzecha working his ground and pound in the gym. He isn't landing a great percentage of his ground strikes so far though.
Cowen is writhing around trying to get back to his feet.
Warzecha throws some wild stikes that Cowen manages to avoid easily.

Cowen wants to hold on but Warzecha pushes him away.
Warzecha lands a shot to the body, followed up by a shot to the exposed head of his trapped opponent.
Warzecha takes a little breather and maintains the position. The referee will be looking for him to stay active from such a dominant position though.

Cowen is desperately trying to get back to half guard.
Poor strikes thrown by Warzecha there. More accuracy and less frantic strikes would help!

Warzecha is looking for an arm triangle, whilst trying to pass to side control. Cowen doesn't seem that keen to cooperate though. No luck this time Warzecha.

A few boos can be heard. I'm sure they will multiply if the fighters don't pick up the pace.

Cowen turns his hip over beautifully as he lands a nice leg kick.
Warzecha throws a shot from downtown. Cowen moves away and avoids it.
Warzecha displays some good footwork, moving neatly out of range as Cowen throws out the jab.

A countering left hand to the body from Warzecha misses.
Cowen throws a hook to the body but it doesn't connect.

Warzecha throws an overhand right that lands on Cowen's shoulder, as Cowen tries to avoid the shot.

It looks like Waldemir Warzecha has been cut.
A head kick misses from Warzecha.
Warzecha slips a jab and a cross from Cowen.
Warzecha tries to drive through with a takedown attempt but Cowen defends well and Warzecha ends up having to push Cowen into the cage where they will battle it out in the clinch.

Warzecha shoots in for a takedown. He's persisting with it as Cowen sprawls well. Cowen wins this battle and keeps the fight standing. Warzecha gets slowly back to his feet.
Warzecha has his hands up protecting his head but a hook from Cowen finds it's way round the side to connect with Warzecha's head.

Warzecha uses some good footwork to avoid the body shot by Cowen.

Cowen was looking to counter that move with a punch but didn't quite pull the trigger.

Nice takedown defense from Cowen. No joy for Warzecha on that attempt.

Warzecha fakes a strike and closes the distance, dragging Cowen to the ground. Warzecha is now in Cowen's guard.

Cowen will need to keep those long limbs tucked in whilst he's on the ground, to prevent any submissions.
Warzecha might have to switch it up a bit here because his efforts to control Cowen haven't been going to plan, at least at the current moment in time.
There's a bit of a scramble here and now Cowen is on top in guard.

Warzecha tries to land a sweep but no joy.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

Warzecha throws his legs up looking to secure a triangle. Oh, that looks pretty tight, I gotta say! Cowen escapes and throws Warzecha's legs to the side, diving into side control!

Cowen thinks about going for a far side armbar but bails out and retains the dominant position instead.
Cowen is looking to take a break and control but Warzecha is keeping him honest, looking to work from the bottom.
Warzecha manages to get back to half guard.

Cowen lands a big shot there that rocks Warzecha but he's holding on and managing to survive for now.

Warzecha can't escape the position.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Warzecha tries to hold on but Cowen postures up.
Cowen throwing sloppy strikes here. Perhaps if he tightened up his striking from such a dominant position, he'd be able to finish easier.
Warzecha is desperately trying to get back to half guard.
Warzecha manages to regain half guard. Good work.
Cowen wants to take a breather but Warzecha is having none of it.
Cowen tries to pass the half guard into mount. Warzecha knows what he's doing though and prevents the attempt.
Warzecha is staying active underneath Cowen, who seems content to just control the action from this position.

OK. That's time! The bell goes and we're back to the action. Let's get this one finished - here comes the final round!


Cowen swings for the body but Warzecha moves out of range.
Waldemir Warzecha is looking to throw some combinations by the looks of things.
Warzecha tries to score a power double leg takedown but Cowen sees that one coming and sprawls well. That will dishearten Warzecha somewhat.
Cowen swung with a counter right hand that didn't connect.
Warzecha takes one on the chin but seems OK.
Warzecha shoots in looking for a takedown but Cowen manages to keep the fight standing, pushing Warzecha's face into the canvas for good measure before circling away.
Warzecha changes levels and looks for a double leg takedown. Cowen tries to avoid it but Warzecha manages to keep hold of a leg and drag Cowen to the ground. Cowen escapes though and pops straight back up to his feet.
Cowen is looking to counter with head kicks.
Jared Cowen has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Waldemir Warzecha.
A jab from Cowen finds it's way through Warzecha's defenses.
Cowen is using his height advantage well here, landing a good percentage of his punches.
Warzecha misses with a takedown attempt - Cowen sprawls well and throws a nice strike on the way out which just misses.
Cowen fakes a jab and then connects with a hook.

Warzecha seems to have recovered his senses.

Cowen lands a big right hand that sends Warzecha crashing to the mat! Cowen stays standing though and waves Warzecha back to his feet!
The crowd are loving this. Great action here.
Warzecha dives in for a single leg takedown but Cowen sprawls and the fighters end up clinched against the cage.

A head kick by Warzecha misses
and Cowen counters with a huge right that knocks Warzecha out cold! Cowen is running around with a crazed look on his face - you can see how much that meant to him!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 1:08 of round 3, we have a winner by way of KO (Punches). Jared Cowen!
A very excited looking Jared Cowen rambled incoherently for about 5 minutes post fight about how awesome he is. It was kinda funny for a while but then everyone got annoyed.
