Coming up we have a middleweight MMA rules bout between Charlie Meyers (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Love Aikawa (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). These two fighters really are very evenly matched on the feet - it will be fascinating to see who can assert themselves in that aspect of the fight.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Aikawa throws a hook to the body but it doesn't connect.

Meyers shoots in for a takedown! He's got it and he's managed to land in side control! That's better than Meyers was expecting from the takedown attempt, I'm sure!

Meyers working hard here to secure a kimura but he's not really in the right position for it.
Meyers tries to score with some ground and pound. Aikawa controls his posture well this time though and the shots don't do any damage.
Aikawa wants to control but Meyers postures up.

Meyers has no desire to be mounted, so is trying to control. Aikawa is working away from the top position though.
Aikawa is looking to take a break and control but Meyers is keeping him honest, looking to work from the bottom.

The two fighters exchange a few words. I couldn't hear what they were saying but maybe it's more fun if you make it up yourself. Aikawa connects with a nice short shot to Meyers's temple.

Meyers tries to work a leg under to get back to half guard but Aikawa wriggles his own leg back out and remains in side control.

Meyers wants to improve his position but Aikawa is controlling well.
Aikawa thows a huge punch but Meyers dodges it nicely.

A few boos can be heard. I'm sure they will multiply if the fighters don't pick up the pace.

Meyers is looking to regain full guard. Not this time though.
Aikawa is trying to control the action in half guard but Meyers is working away on the bottom, looking perhaps to get back to full guard.
The crowd thankful this round is nearly over.
Meyers moves his hips nicely and gets into full guard.

That was a close round but I would say that Charlie Meyers will probably get the nod.
The referee calls time. The cornermen exit stage left and we're back to business.

Aikawa shoots in from a long way out. He's driving through with the takedown attempt and he eventually gets it, landing in Meyers's guard.

Meyers working from the bottom, still in full guard. He's managed to get a loose triangle. Aikawa doesn't seem to be doing much to defend here, obviously he feels comfortable in the position. Aikawa manages to throw the legs off his shoulder and he's back into guard - no problem.

A big thud reverberates around the arena there as Aikawa accidentally thumps the mat. Hopefully he's not broken his hand.

Meyers is working actively from the bottom, looking for submissions. He's escaped his hips to the side and he's going for an armbar! Aikawa has his hands clasped together but Meyers extends and breaks Aikawa's desperate grasp, forcing a tap out due to armbar! Nice BJJ displayed there by Meyers.
