PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a light heavyweight MMA rules bout between Billy Bulge (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Travis Freeman (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). The atmosphere really building for this one as we go over to our ring announcer for the fighter introductions!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 6 - 2 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Billy Bulge!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 8 - 5 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, Travis Freeman!
The judges for this bout are Roger Salmon, Jeff Smith and Chris Saunders.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Freeman throws an uppercut from half a mile away. Bulge sees it coming and avoids it easily.
An inside leg kick from Bulge misses.

Freeman gets taken down but at least he's managed to land in guard.
We get told so often about how wrestlers don't like to be on their backs. Let's see if Freeman can do anything to dispel that myth.
Bulge throwing shots from guard but he's hitting more mat than opponent.
Freeman is trying to control the position from the bottom.
Bulge stands and throws Freeman's legs to the side, diving into side control.
Bulge wants to lay and pray for a moment but Freeman keeps working.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

Bulge throws a knee to the body but it doesn't do much damage.
Bulge in side control, trying to ground and pound but not landing this time.
Bulge looks up at the clock and then as Freeman takes his cue and looks up at the clock too, Bulge smacks him right in the chops with a big elbow! How rude!

Freeman takes an elbow right on the bridge of the nose and winces in pain.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Bulge tries to score with some ground and pound. Freeman controls his posture well this time though and the shots don't do any damage.
We've been hearing good reports from Bulge's training camp. Apparently he has been rolling around with some good quality BJJ practitioners and has been sharpening his skills. Let's see if that has an impact on the fight today.

Bulge cracks Freeman with a big elbow.
Freeman is being controlled here.
Freeman really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Bulge. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out.

The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Bulge is looking to take a break and control but Freeman is keeping him honest, looking to work from the bottom.
Bulge misses with the ground and pound.
Bulge creates some space and throws a big elbow, but Freeman sees it coming and moves his head just enough to avoid the strike.
Bulge has been looking to land a fair amount of strikes on the ground. He might be looking to soften his opponent up in order to work for a submission.

Freeman is working to avoid the ground and pound but Bulge connects with a decent elbow.
Freeman avoids any damage from the ground and pound of Bulge.
Bulge slows the pace down.
Bulge connects with a decent looking elbow from side control that caused Freeman some visible discomfort.
The crowd thankful this round is nearly over.

Bulge throws a leg kick but he was too far away and it doesn't land.

Bulge moving around in side mount but really he's just happy to control for now.
Bulge is looking to take a break and control but Freeman is keeping him honest, looking to work from the bottom.

Bulge is really dominating this fight. Is there anything that Freeman can do to turn this around?
Bulge's ground tactics aren't going to win him many fans. Let's hope he's got fireworks for us if he gets back to his feet because he's not doing much on the ground.

Freeman regains half guard there - taking advantage of Bulge's attempt to lay and pray for a moment.
Bulge slips a nice elbow through Freeman's hands, connecting with Freeman's forehead.
Bulge thows a wild elbow that connects with the canvas.

Bulge frees up his trapped foot and advances to mount.
The referee warns Freeman that he has to improve his position here as he takes two more clean shots to the head.
Bulge lands with some vicious ground and pound - can Freeman hang on?

Bulge lands a couple of good shots and Freeman has given up his back, trying to escape the position!
Bulge just keeping the dominant position. He can't wait too long though, otherwise the referee will stand them back up.
Bulge seems to have a rather negative gameplan on the ground. He seems keen to just score the takedown and hold down Freeman for as long as he can get away with.

Bulge lands a punch to the side of the head from the back.
Bulge throws a big right hand but he misses and hits the mat. Ouch.
The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so!

Freeman is being controlled on the ground here - he must escape this position otherwise surely the end is near.
The crowd thankful this round is nearly over.
Freeman takes a big shot to the side of the head.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

That's the end of the round. The referee orders the cornermen out of the cage so we can get back down to business. This is the final round!


Bulge lunges in with an uppercut that skims his opponent's chin.
Bulge shoots in looking for a takedown but Freeman manages to keep the fight standing, pushing Bulge's face into the canvas for good measure before circling away.
Freeman darts in and out, connecting with a jab.
Freeman throws a monster uppercut resembling something out of street fighter but it doesn't land.
Bulge walks straight into a jab right on the nose. That one stung - he's blinking and trying to clear his head.
Freeman connects with a leg kick. Bulge looked like he was expecting something else and didn't defend it.
Freeman looks to land a right hand but Bulge moved out of range.
Freeman throws a nice head kick!
Freeman comes forward and lands a shot to the body, then darts back out of range.
The sound of bone on bone echoes around the arena as Freeman checks a leg kick.
Bulge does a little shimmy and throws a leg kick. The leg kick missed by a considerable margin though, making him look a little bit silly for doing the shimmy.
Freeman throws a nice head kick!
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!
Bulge slips a straight right by Freeman.
Bulge avoids a kick to the body.
A head kick from Freeman lands but Bulge takes it in his stride.
Bulge doesn't react quick enough there as he takes a shot to the body.

Freeman feints with a shoulder and throws a nice leg kick to Bulge's calf.
Ouch! a nice leg kick from Freeman, right into the meat.
Good leg kick by Bulge there. It's the ones that make that thud noise that hurt and that was an almighty thud.
Freeman throws a leg kick that misses.
Travis Freeman seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Bulge throws a body kick but he was well out of range there.
Bulge tries to score with a low kick but Freeman moves his leg out of the way.
Some bone on bone action there as Bulge checks a low kick. Luckily it wasn't a particularly hard one.
Freeman throws the left hand but Bulge avoids the punch easily.
Freeman just misses with a punch to the body.
Freeman has done a lot of speed work in the buildup to this fight.

Bulge closes the distance and looks for a trip takedown... aaaand he's got it - Bulge lands in his opponent's guard.

Travis Freeman has stepped it up - he knows he needs a finish here!

Bulge is looking to work some ground and pound but Freeman has wrist control.
Bulge trying to control the position from guard on top but Freeman is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can.

Billy Bulge overall seems to be getting the better of the ground position in the fight so far.
Bulge in full guard, throwing the ground and pound. No damage this time.
Freeman can't do much from the bottom at the moment, as Bulge controls the pace.

The ref stands the fighters back up due to a lack of activity.

Freeman misses with a half-hearted attempt at a head kick.
Travis Freeman seems to be getting the better of the standup.
Freeman throws a body kick, spinning off balance

and Bulge counters with a driving takedown into guard. Nice work there by Bulge.
Bulge makes a bit of distance and scores with some ground and pound, still in guard.
Bulge's corner is telling him to maintain position.

Bulge advances position into side control!
Bulge scores with a couple of nice shots to the head there. The referee takes a look at Freeman to see if he's OK.
A bit of a lull in the action. I'm sure it will pick up again soon... even if the ref has to physically pick them up and put them back on their feet.
Freeman takes an elbow right on the bridge of the nose and winces in pain.
Freeman tries to strike but it doesn't land.

And that's the end of the fight!
I would just about give that final round to Travis Freeman.
I think Bulge has won this one but let's see what the judges have to say. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
