The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Strong bobs and weaves into range and then changes levels and scores with a nice takedown into side control.
Shiit is looking for a sweep.
Shiit keeps trying to improve his position.

Strong wants to work for a kimura but he's foiled early by Shiit, who protects the arm well.
Strong misses with the ground and pound.
Shiit is looking to regain half guard here but Strong keeps moving and retains side control.
You can see the frustration on Shiit's face, being in this tough position on the bottom.

We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

Shiit parries the strikes from Strong easily there. Strong is wary of posturing up too much because it might enable Shiit to escape.

The referee asks Strong politely if he wouldn't mind getting on with it and actually doing something. Strong prefers to stall for the moment though.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Shiit can't do much from the bottom here.
Shiit tries to work a leg under to get back to half guard but Strong wriggles his own leg back out and remains in side control.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

Shiit tries to slip a leg under to move to half guard but Strong presses down on the leg and jumps into full mount!
We get told so often about how wrestlers don't like to be on their backs. Let's see if Shiit can do anything to dispel that myth.

Strong tucks in and makes sure he doesn't lose the dominant position.

The fighters are going at a pretty good pace and they're both starting to sweat now.
Strong cracks Shiit with a nasty head shot there - the crowd let out an audible gasp there, as the noise reverberated around the arena.

Strong has control of Shiit's right arm, working for a kimura. It's a bit of a token attempt though and Shiit regains control of the situation pretty easily.
