PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a heavyweight MMA rules bout between Bud Macintosh (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Ray Olhoffer (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). These two fighters really are very evenly matched on the feet - it will be fascinating to see who can assert themselves in that aspect of the fight.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 29 - 25 - 3, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, Bud Macintosh!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 34 - 29 - 0, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, Ray Olhoffer!
The judges for this bout are Leandro Rodrigues, Mauricio Rocha and Felipe Paraventi.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Macintosh gets a double leg takedown into Olhoffer's guard.

Olhoffer is a painfully thin specimen of a man. You do wonder whether a good body kick would snap him clean in two.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

A few boos can be heard. I'm sure they will multiply if the fighters don't pick up the pace.

Olhoffer really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Macintosh. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out.
Macintosh tries to free his leg and advance position but Olhoffer is retaining full guard.
It looks like the ref is thinking about a standup.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Olhoffer tries to land a sweep but no joy.

The referee has stepped in and called for a break in the action. We'll restart on the feet.

Macintosh drives through with a takedown into guard.
Macintosh trying to land body shots but he keeps hitting the mat.
Macintosh looking to sit in guard and control but Olhoffer gets the butterfly guard and sweeps. He's now in the guard on the top.

The fighters are starting to perspire pretty heavily.
Macintosh tries to land a sweep but no joy.
Macintosh is working hard here to advance position.
Macintosh is avoiding any damage by keeping wrist control.
Macintosh looking to hit a scissor sweep but Olhoffer is one step ahead there.
Olhoffer wants to stand but Macintosh is controlling his posture from full guard.

Macintosh manages to sweep nicely, so he's now on top. Olhoffer manages to get himself to full guard.

Macintosh might be looking to lock onto one of his opponent's long limbs for a submission, whilst we're on the ground.
Macintosh seems content to control from guard here. He's going to have to remain active though if he doesn't want to get stood back up.

Olhoffer wants to sweep here but Macintosh controlling him for the moment.

Olhoffer throws a nice looking combination but Macintosh bobs and weaves to avoid any damage.

Macintosh takes a little breather and maintains the position. The referee will be looking for him to stay active from such a dominant position though.

Macintosh fakes a shot to the body and cracks his opponent in the head. Nice ground and pound there!

Macintosh postures up and cracks his opponent a couple of times before moving back into close ground control. Olhoffer looks a forlorn figure.

The crowd are showing their displeasure at the lack of action as loud boos ring out around the arena.
Macintosh pushing the pace here, looking to move to his opponents back and work for a finish.
Macintosh tries to control but Olhoffer wriggling away.
Macintosh throwing sloppy strikes, which aren't doing any damage.
Macintosh seems to be looking to move to his opponent's back but Olhoffer is holding on tight.
The crowd thankful this round is nearly over.

Macintosh is working for a guillotine from mount but Olhoffer frees his head quite easily.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

That's the end of the round. The referee orders the cornermen out of the cage so we can get back down to business. This is the final round!


Olhoffer connects with a crisp jab.
Macintosh shoots for a double leg takedown but Olhoffer sprawls well. He's pushed Macintosh's face into the mat and manages to get back to his feet relatively easily.

Olhoffer throws out a loose jab but Macintosh uses good head movement to avoid it.
Olhoffer tries to bum rush Macintosh with a series of wild strikes but Macintosh uses good footwork to avoid the assault.

Macintosh throws the overhand right but ducks down into a quick takedown attempt. Olhoffer was covering up waiting for the punch and Macintosh finishes the takedown easily into guard.

Macintosh passes Olhoffer's right leg, so he's now in half guard.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Olhoffer keeping his head moving to avoid the ground and pound.
Macintosh tries to pass to full mount but Olhoffer defends it.
Olhoffer is staying active underneath Macintosh, who seems content to just control the action from this position.
Ray Olhoffer has stepped it up - he knows he needs a finish here!

My god... these two guys really need to pick up the pace or everyone will leave to go get a beer.
Macintosh wants to pass to mount but Olhoffer is defending the position.

The referee has motioned to the fighters to stand back up. He just wasn't happy with the level of activity.

Macintosh bobs and weaves well there to avoid the strikes.
Olhoffer throws a combination but it was largely blocked by Macintosh.
Macintosh changes levels looking for a counter takedown but doesn't commit.

Macintosh shoots in for a takedown! He's got it and he's managed to land in side control! That's better than Macintosh was expecting from the takedown attempt, I'm sure!

Bud Macintosh is fighting for a decision here - he's started to take the cautious approach.

Macintosh is trying to control. Olhoffer wants to improve his position but can't escape this time.

Bud Macintosh showed his dominance in that final round.
Well I reckon that's a shut out for Macintosh, winning every round. Will the judges agree? They are the ones who matter, even if they are often depressingly incompetent. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
