PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a lightweight MMA rules bout between Georgio Socrates (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Tony Jaa (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Socrates comes to the cage accompanied by Tool - Schism. Fingers crossed for an exciting fight - I'm sure both fighters are looking for a nice under the table bonus!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the lightweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 9 - 6 - 0, fighting out of London, Georgio Socrates!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 10 - 17 - 0, fighting out of London, Tony Jaa!
The judges for this bout are Sam Margolis, James Ackerman and Donald Grub.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Socrates defends well against a solid takedown attempt from Jaa.
Socrates changes levels looking for a counter takedown but doesn't commit.
Socrates leaves Jaa with his face pressed against the mat as he sprawls beautifully, defending against a solid takedown attempt.

Jaa wants to sweep but no luck.

Jaa is adopting a defensive guard.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

Jaa stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Socrates swivels though and keeps the full guard.

Neither fighter has done anything of merit for a good minute or two here and the crowd are not happy about it.
Jaa throws a looping left and ducks down for a takedown. He's got his arms around Socrates's waist but Socrates gets an underhook and avoids the takedown by throwing Jaa off to one side.

Socrates closes the distance and pushes Jaa back into the cage.

Jaa gets control of Socrates's arms and successfully pulls guard. Jaa will no doubt be looking for submissions off his back.

Tony Jaa seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.

Socrates bobs and weaves into range and then changes levels and scores with a nice takedown into side control.
Jaa takes a couple of big shots there - the referee warns him that he has to defend himself better.
