Coming up we have a heavyweight MMA rules bout between Mark Avreli (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Sergey Chernov (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Over to our ring announcer for the fighter introductions!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 5 rounds, for the heavyweight championship of the world!
Introducing the champion to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 20 - 5 - 0, fighting out of St Petersburg, Mark Avreli!
And introducing the challenger to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 9 - 2 - 0, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, Sergey Chernov!
The judges for this bout are James Glass, Steven Brown and Richard Clark.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Avreli on the wrong end of a nice low kick. He's acting like it's no big deal but he doesn't want to take many more of those.
Avreli lands a nice hook to Chernov's body. Chernov takes it in his stride and looks to land his own strikes.
A shot to the body from Avreli misses
and Chernov counters with a good right hand that lands right on the jaw.


It looks like Mark Avreli has been cut.
Avreli is moving around nicely and scores here with a single head shot.
Chernov takes one to the side of the head.

I was talking to Avreli's coach per-fight and he was telling me that they'd been working on the clinch in the runup to this fight.

Avreli dodges the punch combination from Chernov.

Chernov throws out a counter right but Avreli avoids it with no problem.

Avreli pushes off and circles away, back to the middle of the mat.
Avreli changes levels and looks for a double leg takedown. Chernov tries to avoid it but Avreli manages to keep hold of a leg and drag Chernov to the ground. Chernov escapes though and pops straight back up to his feet.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Mark Avreli. That's going to take a lot out of him.
Avreli looks to land a combination but Chernov avoids it well.

Avreli throws a hard body shot but it just misses.
Good leg kick by Chernov there. It's the ones that make that thud noise that hurt and that was an almighty thud.

Sergey Chernov seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.

Avreli fakes an overhand right and shoots for a takedown. Chernov sprawls well initially but Avreli persists and gets the takedown into half guard.
The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so!
Avreli thumps the canvas. Not on purpose obviously - he just missed Chernov's head.
Chernov is looking to regain full guard. Not this time though.

Chernov takes a solid shot to the body. That one hurt him but he's trying not to show it.
Avreli takes a nasty kick to the mid section... That should keep him thinking. Does he try and block and risk a head kick landing?

Avreli shoots in for a takedown. He's persisting with it as Chernov sprawls well. Chernov wins this battle and keeps the fight standing. Avreli gets slowly back to his feet.

A looping hook to the body misses from Chernov. Avreli does a little dance to reset his feet.
Avreli closes the distance and takes a jab right on the nose as he does so.


Jeez, Mark Avreli's cut is really nasty now. The referee must be thinking about getting that checked.
Chernov throws a feint and then finishes with a kick to the body.

The referee calls the doctor in to look at Mark Avreli's cut. Oh no, the doctor has called an end to the bout!

Our winner, Sergey Chernov, made sure he spent some time buttering up the crowd during his post fight interview, which will no doubt bring him a few more fans.
