PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a featherweight MMA rules bout between Jay Mayorga (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Rayvan Marenia (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Both these guys have really solid chins. Will we see a standup war or will they both decide that a knockout is unlikely and try to win the fight elsewhere?

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Sloppy strikes from Mayorga. Those never looked like landing.

Marenia throws the overhand right but ducks down into a quick takedown attempt. Mayorga was covering up waiting for the punch and Marenia finishes the takedown easily into guard.
Mayorga is looking to get back to his feet but can't, whilst Marenia is controlling him.
Mayorga knows he needs to get back to his feet asap. He's simply no match for Marenia on the ground.

Marenia is trying to work a guillotine from the top, or something like that? Don't know how he thinks he's going to get a finish from there.
Marenia working some ground and pound from guard but it's not doing any damage.
Marenia has the superior BJJ but he's also working some ground strikes into his gameplan.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

Marenia's corner are shouting for him to control the position and he seems happy to oblige.

Mayorga is in a horrible position here, under a barrage of strikes, he's managing to avoid any damage.

Marenia throws an elbow from mount that misses. Lucky escape for Mayorga because Marenia loaded up on that one.
Poor strikes thrown by Marenia there. More accuracy and less frantic strikes would help!

Marenia is giving the impression that he's looking to ground and pound but he switches suddenly into a beautiful far side armbar! Mayorga is forced to tap! Great finish!
