Coming up we have a light heavyweight MMA rules bout between Terry Smith (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Cain Slyker (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Smith comes to the cage accompanied by The Mercenary. Slyker is bobbing his head along to his entrance song: It's Amazing by Kanye West. These two fighters really are very evenly matched on the feet - it will be fascinating to see who can assert themselves in that aspect of the fight.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Slyker misses with a takedown attempt
letting Smith counter with a right hand.

It looks like Cain Slyker has been cut.
Slyker swats away the attempt to clinch by Smith.
Smith lands with a head kick! That's gotta hurt.
Smith connects with a leg kick. Slyker looked like he was expecting something else and didn't defend it.

Smith gets caught on his heels momentarily as he allows Slyker to score an easy takedown into full guard.
Slyker postures up to throw the ground and pound strikes but they don't connect.

Smith is pulling down on Slyker's head. It's preventing any offense from Slyker, at least for the moment.

The referee has decided to stand the fighters back up, so we'll restart on the feet.
Cain Slyker seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Slyker gets his takedown attempt stuffed easily
and Smith counters with a stiff right hand.
Terry Smith has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Cain Slyker.
Smith throws a low kick, looking for Slyker's leg but Slyker calmly moves out of range.
Despite the aggression on Slyker's face he doesn't fully commit to the counter.
Smith stooping low to avoid any incoming strikes and then lunges in with an uppercut come cross that lands flush.

Slyker shoots in with a lovely double leg takedown. Smith manages to land in full guard to minimise the damage.

Slyker stands up over Smith, holding his feet. He dives back in and lands a decent shot to the head.
Slyker throws a big right hand that misses.
Slyker working some ground and pound from guard but it's not doing any damage.
Smith tries to land a sweep but no joy.
Slyker throws an elbow that misses. Smith uses the momentum to reverse the position. He's now in Slyker's guard. Nice move by Smith!

A big thud reverberates around the arena there as Smith accidentally thumps the mat. Hopefully he's not broken his hand.
Smith is frustrating his opponent with some stalling tactics from top position.
Smith's ground tactics aren't going to win him many fans. Let's hope he's got fireworks for us if he gets back to his feet because he's not doing much on the ground.

Neither fighter has done anything of merit for a good minute or two here and the crowd are not happy about it.

Slyker stumbles momentarily as he takes a strong leg kick from Smith.
Smith looks to score with a combo but nothing lands.
Slyker on the wrong end of a nice jab.
Smith drops Slyker with a naaaaasty hook - Slyker is in real trouble here! Smith dives in to side control and pounds out his opponent for a TKO victory! The crowd goes nuts!
