Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 18 - 5 - 0, fighting out of Helsinki, Mikko Hovimaki!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 7 - 2 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Antonis Skayias!
The judges for this bout are Stewart Dunkirk, Robert Twigg and George Francis.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Skayias misses with a takedown attempt. He shot from a bit too far out.
Hovimaki works the jab nicely.
Skayias looks to score with a jab to the body but Hovimaki is just out of range.
Hovimaki swung with a counter right hand that didn't connect.
Skayias displaying good standup as he scores with a three punch combination.
Skayias tries to drive through with a takedown attempt but Hovimaki defends well and Skayias ends up having to push Hovimaki into the cage where they will battle it out in the clinch.

Skayias has Hovimaki pressed against the cage, preventing Hovimaki from circling away and getting back to striking at range.

Hovimaki is fighting off a takedown attempt but Skayias is just too persistent for him and manages to trip Hovimaki to the mat. Hovimaki regains guard as soon as the fighters hit the mat.
We could do with one of the fighters taking the initiative a bit more on the ground - they're both waiting to capitalize on a mistake.

Skayias stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Hovimaki swivels though and keeps the full guard.

A lull in the action here being met with boos from the crowd.
Skayias is looking to work some ground and pound but Hovimaki has wrist control.
A big thud reverberates around the arena there as Skayias accidentally thumps the mat. Hopefully he's not broken his hand.

The referee has motioned to the fighters to stand back up. He just wasn't happy with the level of activity.

Skayias pulls out of a head kick attempt.
Skayias displays some good footwork, moving neatly out of range as Hovimaki throws out the jab.

That's time! Hovimaki's corner gives him a slap on the ass as he gets ready to fight.

Skayias bobbing and weaving well here. And he's unloaded with a massive right hand that drops Hovimaki! He dives into his guard looking to finish!
Oh Hovimaki is still in real trouble! Will he be able to recover?!!

Neither fighter has done anything of merit for a good minute or two here and the crowd are not happy about it.

Skayias might want to mix his strikes up a bit more. He's just going for head shots at the moment and that can become a bit predictable.

Hovimaki takes a really solid shot there but just smiles back and shrugs his shoulders.
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!

Skayias shoots in looking for a takedown. Hovimaki tries to sprawl out of it but Skayias keeps driving through. The fighters are pinned against the cage. Hovimaki manages to get underhooks and after a bit of a struggle, circles away and we're back to standing.

Antonis Skayias showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards.

Skayias lands a vicious shot with the stealth of a sniper and the strength of a viper. Are vipers that strong? I can think of lots of things that are stronger than a viper - not many rhyme with sniper though.
