PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a light heavyweight MMA rules bout between Cassius Ali (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Chuck Cages (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). I'm sure you'll be fascinated to know that I was talking to some pointless Z list celebrity before the fight and he thought that Chuck Cages was going to win. Let's see if he was right.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 2 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Helsinki, Cassius Ali!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Helsinki, Chuck Cages!
The judges for this bout are Anni Minnemäki, Tarja Halkonen and Matti Vanhoillinen.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Cages takes a body punch but keeps moving.
Ali digs a good body shot into Cages's ribs.
Ali definitely looks more muscular than last time we saw him fight.
Cages shoots in for a takedown. "I don't think so" says Ali as he avoids it easily.
Cages uses decent footwork to sidestep a right hand from Ali.
Cages tries for a takedown but Ali sees it coming a mile off and avoids it easily.
Cages's hands are dropping dangerously low here and Ali connects clean with a right hook that sends him down to one knee! Cages scrambles back to his feet.
Ali throws a body punch but Cages moves out of range.
Cages moves away from the strike by Ali.
Ali misses the shot to the body.
Cages avoids the body shot from Ali.

Ali has managed to clinch.
Ali has Cages pressed against the cage, preventing Cages from circling away and getting back to striking at range.
Cages tries to pull guard but can't drag his opponent to the mat. Ali just stands there and leans against the cage.
Cassius Ali has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Chuck Cages.
Cages tries to land a knee to the body but he is off balance and Ali avoids it.
Ali lands a short shot on the inside that snaps the head of Cages backwards.
Cages tries to throw a body punch but Ali avoids it by throwing Cages back against the cage.

Ali managing to block the knees to the body from Cages.
Ali is working Cages over against the cage.
Cages tries for a takedown. No joy.
Cages misses with some punches.
Good anti-grappling being displayed by Ali as Cages tries to tie him up.
Ali lands a body punch in the clinch.
Cages jumps guard but Ali stands there with Cages around his waist. Cages gives up and drops back to his feet. We remain in the clinch.
Ali is clearly stalling here... Pick up the pace son.
Ali scores with a shoulder strike.

Ali lands a right hand.
Cages goes for a takedown in the clinch but Ali prevents it.
Cages has hold of a leg and is looking for a trip takedown. Ali avoids it nicely though and we remain in the clinch.
Cages drops down looking for an ankle pick but Ali pulls his leg out and moves away.
No luck for Cages with that takedown attempt.

Cassius Ali is looking to keep the fight on the feet at all costs.
Cages looks winded!

Ali takes the fight into the clinch.
A right handed body shot lands from Ali.

Ali displaying some good clinch control by pressing Cages up against the cage.
Cages wants to take the fight to the mat but Ali manages to get underhooks and keep the fight in the clinch.
Cages has had enough of the clinch but Ali keeps him there for the moment.
Cages is trying to pull guard but Ali has him pressed against the cage.
Cages has had enough of the clinch and is looking to separate.
A quick uppercut on the inside from Ali.
Ali scores with a nice hook to the head.
Cages is trying to work out of this bad position, with his back against the cage.
Ali lands a hook to the body. It's hard to tell if that hurt Cages or not.
Ali lands a shoulder strike.

Ali stalls.

The referee calls for Ali to work.
A short right from Ali on the inside.
A short uppercut from Ali.
Cages is trying to pull guard but Ali turns him against the cage and we stay in the clinch.
Ali will no doubt start fighting again in a minute but for now he's just having a little rest, leaning Cages up against the cage.
The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so!
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Cassius Ali dominated that round.
The referee calls time. The cornermen exit stage left and we're back to business.

Ali cracks Cages with a nasty uppercut that draws ooohs from the crowd and sends Cages tumbling backwards onto the mat. He tries to recover but Ali pounces and lands a hail of unanswered strikes that forces the referee to step in to end the fight! Cages is not happy but he gave the referee no choice!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 0:05 of round 2, we have a winner by way of TKO (Strikes). Cassius Ali!
