PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a middleweight MMA rules bout between Dylan Dexter (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Rocky Balboa (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Dexter's entrance music is Pink Fong. A fine choice. I don't know about you partner, but I'm pumped for this one!

The judges for this bout are Robert Twigg, Chris Downing and Stewart Dunkirk.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Balboa looks to score with a combo but nothing lands.
Dexter lands with a two punch combination before moving back out of range.
Balboa with a poor takedown
and Dexter counters with a left and a right that stings Balboa.
Balboa misses with a series of wild punches.
Dexter looks to land a combination but Balboa avoids it well.
Balboa rushes forward with a series of wild hooks but Dexter moves out of range and avoids them all easily.
As Balboa looks to move away, Dexter throws a big counter combo bu Balboa just gets out of the way.
Dexter shoots in for a double leg but Balboa sprawls well. That's going to sap some energy.
Balboa throws a combination but comes up with nothing but fresh air.
Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show!
Dexter takes an uppercut right on the jaw but it doesn't phase him.
Dexter takes a solid shot to the body. That one hurt him but he's trying not to show it.
Balboa takes a step towards his opponent and connects with a left hand, before circling away.

Balboa shoots in for a takedown! He's got it and he's managed to land in side control! That's better than Balboa was expecting from the takedown attempt, I'm sure!
Balboa looks more muscular than last time we saw him. He must have been on the weights.
Dexter wants to control but Balboa postures up.
Dexter regains half guard.

Neither fighter has done anything of merit for a good minute or two here and the crowd are not happy about it.
Dexter manages to get to full guard.
Balboa is looking to work some ground and pound but Dexter has wrist control.
Dexter seems to have improved his submission grappling technique since last time we saw him. Let's see if he can pull off a submission.
Balboa has decided he wants to stand but the closed guard of Dexter is proving hard to escape from.

The fighters are going at a pretty good pace and they're both starting to sweat now.
Dexter had isolated an arm as going for a kimura. Balboa defends it easily.

Dexter throws a couple of weedy looking strikes off his back.
There's a bit of a scramble here and now Dexter is on top in guard.

Balboa is looking to get back to his feet but can't, whilst Dexter is controlling him.
Balboa can't keep his opponent in guard - Dexter advances to half guard, no doubt looking to mount.

Dexter is working for a kimura but Balboa is defending it quite comfortably.
Balboa is trying to maintain the position but Dexter is very close to passing his half guard.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

That was a close round but I would say that Dylan Dexter will probably get the nod.
The fighters' corners scream their final instructions, as the referee calls time. Here we go, back to the action!

Balboa darts in and clinches Dexter up against the cage.

Balboa is working on a single leg takedown against the cage. Dexter can't fight it off and eventually Balboa manages to take the fight to the floor. Dexter looks annoyed but at least he's managed to land in guard.
Dexter is working the butterfly guard. He manages to land a nice scissor sweep and is now in half guard on the top. Nice move.

Balboa pushes Dexter off looking to stand but Dexter dives back in and keeps control.

Dylan Dexter overall seems to be getting the better of the ground position in the fight so far.

Dexter is looking for a kimura but he's never going to get it from there.

Dexter is sneakily working for an arm triangle but Balboa sees it coming and defends easily.

The referee is pacing around the two fighters - he looks like he's thinking about a standup.

The referee decides to stand the fighters back up.

Dexter pushes a forearm under Balboa's chin to create some space. He's escaped his hips and pivoted quickly for an armbar! Can he extend the arm? Yes, Balboa is tapping out! Damn, that was fast!
