And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 3 - 1 - 0, fighting out of New York, Edu Alvarez!
The judges for this bout are Alyssa Summers, Chad Campbell and Columbo Gatti.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Alvarez misses with a wild combination.
Alvarez is looking to clinch but Taisumov is avoiding it.
It looked like Taisumov was looking amped, ready to throw a big counter but didn't commit.

Alvarez clinches with his opponent.
The pace slowing considerably in the clinch, as Alvarez takes a break from that fighting nonsense to think about the finer things in life.
Alvarez wants to take the fight to the mat but Taisumov manages to get underhooks and keep the fight in the clinch.
Taisumov tries to circle away but Alvarez has him pinned against the cage.
Alvarez throws an elbow but it misses.

Alvarez is looking to score with knees to the body. Maybe he'll change it up and go body then head. Taisumov is defending well for now.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Taisumov looks like he'd prefer to be striking at range right now.
Taisumov tries to break free but Alvarez pushes him back against the cage.
Taisumov wants to break the clinch but can't.
Alvarez keeps the fight in the clinch, despite Taisumov's efforts to push away.
Taisumov wants to strike at distance but he can't break free of the clinch.
Taisumov has been talking about how he's improved his wrestling in the run up to the fight so let's see if that's enough to sway the balance.

Taisumov moves out of range of the strikes.
It looked like Taisumov was looking amped, ready to throw a big counter but didn't commit.
Taisumov lands three nice shots there - that looked like it hurt!

Taisumov lands a jab. Then a cross. Then finally a nice hook to the body. Good work there by Taisumov.

Alvarez tries to clinch up but Taisumov circles away and keeps his distance.
Alvarez fakes high and shoots in for a takedown but Taisumov avoids it really well and circles away.

Taisumov throws a nice looking combination but Alvarez bobs and weaves to avoid any damage.
Alvarez avoids a punch combination nicely.

Alvarez looks for a takedown. He's got it. We're now in half guard.
This has been an exciting period of action!
Taisumov wants to get back to his feet.

Alvarez seems to be working for a kimura but Taisumov defends the submission attempt.
Taisumov knows he needs to get back to his feet asap. He's simply no match for Alvarez on the ground.

Alvarez maintaining the dominant position here and is working for a kimura. He's locked it up! Taisumov could be in real trouble here! He's trying to wriggle out but Alvarez has cracked it and Taisumov is screaming in pain - he's tapped out! Great finish by Alvarez!
