PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a featherweight MMA rules bout between Pozar Pozar (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Marc Lewis Dillinger (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Pozar kept the crowd waiting but all that was forgotten when his ring entrance music started. The incomparable musical genius that is z Buta Wjeżdzam. The atmosphere really building for this one as we go over to our ring announcer for the fighter introductions!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the featherweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 13 - 16 - 0, fighting out of St Petersburg, Pozar Pozar!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 6 - 7 - 0, fighting out of St Petersburg, Marc Lewis Dillinger!
The judges for this bout are Aleksei Zolotukhin, Viktor Lagutenko and Dmitry Maklakov.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Pozar fakes an overhand right and shoots for a takedown. Dillinger sprawls well initially but Pozar persists and gets the takedown into half guard.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Dillinger is refusing to be controlled, as Pozar sits in half guard.
Dillinger wants to get back to his feet.

Pozar is looking for a kimura but Dillinger is holding onto that half guard position, so it's hard for Pozar to get the leverage.
Pozar is thwarting Dillinger's attempts to control the position.
Dillinger is in trouble now - Pozar has advanced to mount!
Dillinger tries to hold on but Pozar postures up.
Dillinger is trying to avoid being dragged into an even worse position than he's already in but Pozar is staying active.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

Pozar has hold of Dillinger's left arm, perhaps looking for a submission. The two fighters tussle over control of the isolated limb and Dillinger manages to get his arm back to his side and away from danger.
Pozar scores with a couple of good head shots there.

Pozar goes for an armbar but he's not got it… Dillinger turns into him and now he's in Pozar's guard.

Pozar bucks up whilst keeping hold of a body lock, managing to reverse the position. Now he's in top in Dillinger's guard.

Pozar wants to control from the top but Dillinger keeps moving.

The fighters are going at a pretty good pace and they're both starting to sweat now.
Pozar is trying to work a guillotine from the top, or something like that? Don't know how he thinks he's going to get a finish from there.

Pozar really does look like a pencil wearing a pair of gloves. Let's hope he has a gameplan to suit that ridiculous body shape.

The referee has motioned to the fighters to stand back up. He just wasn't happy with the level of activity.

There's not a lot going on here and the crowd are letting the fighters know they're not willing to tolerate a lack of action.

Pozar pushes off and circles away, back to the middle of the mat.
Pozar Pozar seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
A punch combination from Pozar misses.
Pozar looks for a takedown but Dillinger sprawls well.
Dillinger wants to break free. God knows he wants to breaaaak freeee.
Pozar lands a good knee to the midsection. Dillinger won't want to take too many of those.
Pozar keeps the fight in the clinch, despite Dillinger's efforts to push away.

Dillinger leaves Pozar with his face pressed against the mat as he sprawls beautifully, defending against a solid takedown attempt.

Well, he's not going to score with shots like that. A lazy body kick attempt from Dillinger.

Pozar tries to shoot in for a takedown. He's got hold of a leg but Dillinger swivels and escapes.

Pozar looks for a takedown here. Will he get it? Dillinger is fending him off so far but Pozar persists. Nope, Dillinger circles away and we're back to standing.
Thud! ouch! good body kick from Dillinger - that will leave a mark!

Dillinger misses the knee to the body. Nice hip positioning from Pozar.

Pozar breaks the clinch and we're back to striking at distance.
Pozar Pozar is looking to throw some combinations by the looks of things.
Pozar shoots in for a takedown but doesn't get it.
Dillinger appeared to try and counter that last move with a leg kick.

Pozar shoots in for a takedown. "Ole!" shouts Dillinger as he jumps to the side.

It looks like Pozar Pozar has been cut.

Pozar's corner calls for him to break the clinch, which he does.

The fight moves into the clinch position.
Dillinger tries to take the fight to the ground by pulling guard but can't manage it.

Pozar manages to break the clinch.
Pozar looks frustrated there after his takedown attempt is stuffed easily.
Pozar changes levels and looks for a double leg takedown. Dillinger tries to avoid it but Pozar manages to keep hold of a leg and drag Dillinger to the ground. Dillinger escapes though and pops straight back up to his feet.

Pozar closes the distance and clinches up with Dillinger, looking for a takedown. Pozar pushes Dillinger against the cage but Dillinger circles to the side and manages to break the clinch.
Nice takedown defense from Dillinger. No joy for Pozar on that attempt.
Pozar shoots in looking for a takedown but Dillinger manages to keep the fight standing, pushing Pozar's face into the canvas for good measure before circling away.

Pozar steps to his left, right into the path of a big body kick from Dillinger. That one must have hurt.

Pozar shoots for a takedown but Dillinger saw that one coming a mile off and avoided it easily.
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!

Dillinger jumps guard and drags Pozar to the mat. He's obviously going to be looking for submissions off his back.

Marc Lewis Dillinger showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards.

Dillinger has been looking to improve his clinch game in recent weeks. Pozar seems to have the measure of him in the clinch so far, so let's see if Dillinger can turn it around.

Dillinger must be cautious of submissions here, given that his opponent has the superior Jiu Jitsu.

Pozar had isolated an arm as going for a kimura. Dillinger defends it easily.
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!

Pozar has a loose triangle. He'll be looking to tighten that up but Dillinger can see exactly what he's planning and manages to posture up and free himself.

Pozar escapes his hips to the side and looks to be working for an armbar. Dillinger gives him a little smile and shakes his head. No chance.

A lull in the action here being met with boos from the crowd.

The referee has stepped in and called for a break in the action. We'll restart on the feet.
Dillinger stuffs a takedown. It's all about dictating where the fight takes place and Dillinger wants it to stay on the feet.
Dillinger throws a quick head kick that skims the top of Pozar's head.
Dillinger keeps Pozar at a distance using the push kick.
Dillinger connects with a solid leg kick.
Pozar fails with a takedown attempt from distance.

Marc Lewis Dillinger comfortably won the final round on my scorecard.
I think Dillinger has won this one but let's see whether the judges agree with me. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
