The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Gattuso shoots in but doesn't get the takedown
and Mellia counters with a nice jab to the body that keeps Gattuso thinking.

Gattuso uses good head movement to avoid the hook from Mellia.
Gattuso shoots in for a takedown. "I don't think so" says Mellia as he avoids it easily.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Gennaro Gattuso. That's going to take a lot out of him.
Mellia tries to close the distance and clinch up against the cage but Gattuso paws at him with a jab and circles away.
Mellia scores with a punch to the gut of his opponent.

Mellia throws a couple of head shots and lands with the final one - a decent hook, which struck Gattuso on the side of the head.

Gattuso throws a wild body kick that Mellia sees coming a mile off.
Mellia doesn't fully commit to the body shot counter.
Mellia lands a lovely overhand right.
Gennaro Gattuso seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.

Parvati Mellia is looking to keep the fight on the feet at all costs.

Mellia cracks Gattuso with a right hand to the side of the head.

and Gattuso takes a counter punch right on the button for his troubles.
Mellia displays good takedown defense there as he swats away a double leg from Gattuso.
Gattuso gets caught by a big overhand right and goes down! Mellia gets on top of him and starts throwing some serious punches until the ref intervenes and stops the fight!
