Coming up we have a featherweight MMA rules bout between Bingo Star (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Rocky Mercurious (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Star comes to the cage accompanied by Octopus's garden. Both these guys have really solid chins. Will we see a standup war or will they both decide that a knockout is unlikely and try to win the fight elsewhere?

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the featherweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 14 - 11 - 1, fighting out of Las Vegas, Bingo Star!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 37 - 14 - 1, fighting out of New York, Rocky Mercurious!
The judges for this bout are Gwen Towbar, Chris Downing and Alan Glass.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Star lands with a good body shot.
Sloppy strikes from Star. Those never looked like landing.
Mercurious moves out of range of the body kick.
Mercurious buckles his opponent's knee momentarily with a nice leg kick.
Mercurious looks to score with a combo but nothing lands.
Mercurious keeping at a good range here, avoiding a leg kick.
Star backing away here, and Mercurious unleashes a leg kick that just misses.
Star misses with a takedown attempt - Mercurious sprawls well and throws a nice strike on the way out which just misses.
Star fails to land with the punch combination there - jab, cross, hook, miss, miss, miss.
Mercurious takes a head kick and shrugs it off.
Mercurious tries a switch kick but it misses it's target.
Mercurious thuds his shin into the meat of Star's side.
Mercurious tries to bum rush Star with a series of wild strikes but Star uses good footwork to avoid the assault.

and Mercurious counters with a quick right hand to the jaw.
Mercurious lands a leg kick. The shin dug right into the meat of the thigh.
Star tries to clinch there but Mercurious circles away.
Mercurious moves into range and lands a nice leg kick.

Star throws a big counter combination but Mercurious scrambles out of danger and avoids any damage.

Mercurious breaks the clinch and we return to the middle of the mat.
Rocky Mercurious is looking to keep the fight on the feet at all costs.

Mercurious keeps the fight on the outside.
A little jabbing left from Mercurious on the counter but it doesn't find it's target.
Star throws a head kick that misses.
Star takes an uppercut right on the button but keeps his composure.
Star tries to clinch but is not successful on this occasion.
Star moves away from the strike by Mercurious.

Star is looking to score with knees to the body. Maybe he'll change it up and go body then head. Mercurious is defending well for now.

Star manages to get underhooks and slows down the pace for a moment.

Mercurious breaks the clinch and we return to the middle of the mat.
Star tries a head kick but it misses.
Star fakes a jab and throws a low kick but Mercurious checks it well.
Star ducks down and throws a hook to the body but Mercurious moves away.
A solid leg kick lands there for Mercurious.

Excellent takedown into side control there by Star.
An elbow from Star crashes against the mat.
Star tries to score with some ground and pound. Mercurious controls his posture well this time though and the shots don't do any damage.
Star wants to control but Mercurious is keeping him busy.

Star misses with the ground and pound.

Star wants to work for a kimura but he's foiled early by Mercurious, who protects the arm well.
An elbow from Star crashes against the mat.
Star working the ground and pound but he's contacting the mat, not the fighter.
Star misses with an attempted head punch from side control.
Star looking to punish the body of his opponent here but Mercurious is avoiding damage well.
Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show!

That was a close round but I would say that Bingo Star will probably get the nod.
That's the end of the round. The referee orders the cornermen out of the cage so we can get back down to business.

and Mercurious counters with a nice uppercut.

Star moves his head to the side to avoid a jab but walks straight into a cross.
Mercurious walks forward and throws out a flicking leg kick. Star checks it nicely though, as he moves to the side.
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!

Nice defenses there by Star.
Mercurious misses with a few strikes there.
Star is hobbling a little on that front leg after taking quite a few leg kicks so far in this fight.
Mercurious throws a solid leg kick but Star takes the impact on his shin and smiles at Mercurious.

Star closes the distance and after a bit of a stuggle, scores a takedown into Mercurious's guard.
Star throws a big elbow that misses.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Star looking to sit in guard and control but Mercurious gets the butterfly guard and sweeps. He's now in the guard on the top.

The fighters are starting to get a bit slippery now, which will make submissions a bit more difficult.
Star is looking for a sweep.
Mercurious really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Star. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out.

Star has been looking to land a fair amount of strikes on the ground. He might be looking to soften his opponent up in order to work for a submission.

Rocky Mercurious showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards.
The minute break is over - no more time for sponges and pep talks - back to the action! This is the final round!

Mercurious wants to sweep but Star has passed to side control!
Star misses with a strike but at least he's keeping busy, looking to cause some damage - that will still help him when it comes to the judges scorecards.
Star cracks Mercurious with an elbow. That is naaassty.
Star with the ground and pound but Mercurious regains half guard under the barage of strikes.
Star throwing punches and elbows but they're not doing any damage.
Star wants to free his trapped foot but Mercurious is holding on for dear life with his legs.

Still in half guard, Star seems content to control.
Mercurious gets back to full guard.
Mercurious working the defensive guard well to avoid strikes from Star.
Star stops Mercurious from standing up.
Star with a couple of shots to the head there. Not particularly brutal.
Star throwing strikes from guard but Mercurious blocks nicely.

Star has gone for a leg lock! Mercurious slips out almost immediately though and dives into Star's guard.

The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Star is trying to control the position but Mercurious postures up.

And that's the end of the fight!
I would just about give that final round to Rocky Mercurious.
I think Mercurious has won this one but let's see whether the judges agree with me. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
