Coming up we have a heavyweight MMA rules bout between Brian Adams (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Mountain Rivera (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Adams comes to the cage accompanied by Kronik. Over to our ring announcer for the fighter introductions!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 23 - 26 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Brian Adams!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 21 - 59 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Mountain Rivera!
The judges for this bout are Frank Dennis, Stewart Dunkirk and Alan Glass.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Rivera with a lazy takedown attempt
and Adams counters with a series of strikes. Rivera will be more careful next time no doubt.
Adams seems to be moving with more speed, compared to his last bout. He must have been working on that in the gym.
Rivera looks frustrated there after his takedown attempt is stuffed easily.
Rivera doesn't succeed with the takedown
and Rivera takes a counter punch right on the button for his troubles.
Brian Adams has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Mountain Rivera.
Adams throws a head kick that misses and slips in the process. He scrambles back to his feet and the fighters circle.
Rivera wants to clinch but Adams slips to the side

and Adams counters by clinching up.
Still in the clinch, Adams scores with a nice short uppercut.
Adams gets underhooks to prevent Rivera's takedown attempt.
Rivera is working hard here but doesn't seem to be able to control effectively, up against the cage.

Adams manages to pull guard.
Adams manages to sweep nicely, so he's now on top. Rivera manages to get himself to full guard.

The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here.

Adams drops back for a leg! It's a sloppy attempt though and Adams jumps back into guard quickly, to retain the dominant position.
Adams wants to control from the top but Rivera keeps moving.
Adams stands and throws Rivera's legs to the side, diving into side control.
Rivera manages to get back to half guard.
Rivera wants to get back to full guard.

Adams is looking for a kimura. It's going to be difficult to finish that from half guard though and Rivera defends it well.

Adams decides he's had enough of playing guard and decides to stand. Come on Rivera, up you get!
Adams looks for a takedown but Rivera sprawls well.
Rivera fails with a rather predictable takedown attempt.

Adams closes the distance and clinches up, looking for a takedown. He shifts his weight and gets a nice trip into half guard.

Adams has controlled the position for a good 20 seconds, which will no doubt be starting to frustrate his opponent.
Adams thows a huge punch but Rivera dodges it nicely.
Adams is looking to take a break and control but Rivera is keeping him honest, looking to work from the bottom.
The fighters are starting to perspire pretty heavily.
Adams is thwarting Rivera's attempts to control the position.

Neither fighter has done anything of merit for a good minute or two here and the crowd are not happy about it.
Adams wants to take a breather but Rivera is having none of it.

The referee has stepped in and called for a break in the action. We'll restart on the feet.

It looks like Mountain Rivera has been cut.
Adams looks to score with a combo but nothing lands.
Adams throws a right hand that Rivera ducks under and follows up with a left that Rivera also avoids with ease.
Rivera shoots in for a takedown. "I don't think so" says Adams as he avoids it easily.

Rivera darts in and clinches Adams up against the cage.
Rivera tries a body shot but Adams blocks it.
Adams tries to pull guard but Rivera forces him back to his feet, against the cage.

A short body shot lands from Adams as the two fighters clinch.
Rivera's coach down at 11th Planet MMA was telling us pre-fight that they have been working on Rivera's balance. Obviously they view that as a key factor in the outcome of this fight.
Rivera tries to land a knee to the body but he is off balance and Adams avoids it.

Adams pushes off and circles away, back to the middle of the mat.

Adams has managed to clinch.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

The corners get their ten second warning. Both fighters stand from their stools and stare eachother down, ready to get back to the action.


Adams leaves Rivera with his face pressed against the mat as he sprawls beautifully, defending against a solid takedown attempt.
Adams throws a head kick but Rivera moves out of range.

Rivera is trying to control but can't.
Rivera is not content to let Adams control the position.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

Adams perhaps working for something from half guard, or maybe not. It looks like he's just sitting there.

The referee wants the fighters to be more active or he's going to reset them on the feet.
Rivera is looking for a sweep. Adams is wise to his cunning plan and keeps the top position.

The referee has decided to stand the fighters back up, so we'll restart on the feet.
Rivera has a takedown stuffed.
Rivera throws a series of punches but Adams moves out of range.
Adams is really dominating this fight. Is there anything that Rivera can do to turn this around?

The crowd are getting on the fighters' backs, as the pace has dropped off in the last minute or so.
Adams tries to score a power double leg takedown but Rivera sees that one coming and sprawls well. That will dishearten Adams somewhat.
Adams works the jab nicely.
Adams throws a body kick but he wasn't in range.

Adams darts in looking for a takedown but Rivera gets double underhooks and turns Adams into the cage.
Rivera is trying to pull guard but Adams turns him against the cage and we stay in the clinch.

Adams breaks the clinch and we return to the middle of the mat.

and Adams counters with a single leg into guard. Rivera didn't expect that.

Adams stands up from Rivera's guard - Adams perhaps looking for a knockout.
Adams goes for a spinning back kick but it misses.

Adams is trying to pull guard but Rivera turns him against the cage and we stay in the clinch.
Adams blocks a knee to the body. He'll have a nicely bruised forearm in the morning.
Rivera is looking for a takedown up against the cage. Adams gets underhooks though and prevents the takedown attempt.

Adams has hold of one of Rivera's legs. Rivera is fighting the takedown attempt but Adams gets the trip and lands the takedown into guard.

Adams decides to stand up and beckons his opponent to follow.
Rivera looks for a takedown here. Will he get it? Adams is fending him off so far but Rivera persists. Nope, Adams circles away and we're back to standing.

Adams has managed to clinch.

Adams has double underhooks and is working for a body lock takedown. He's got it. The fighters land in half guard but Rivera regains guard immediately.

Adams wants to control from the top but Rivera keeps moving.

Rivera is working actively off his back, looking to secure an arm or perhaps work for a triangle.

Rivera is in a good position here but he's just trying to control... And he's not even managing to do that successfully.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

The fighters' corners scream their final instructions, as the referee calls time. Here we go, back to the action! This is the final round!

and Adams counters with a crisp one two that drops Rivera! Adams thinks about following him to the mat for a moment but instead steps back and waves Rivera to his feet! Rivera is in big trouble!
