Coming up we have a featherweight MMA rules bout between Ian Odonnell (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Sandro Dias (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Both fighter's entrance songs getting the crowd jumping here.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the featherweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Helsinki, Ian Odonnell!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Helsinki, Sandro Dias!
The judges for this bout are Johanna Lukiainen, Matti Vanhoillinen and Anni Minnemäki.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Odonnell closes the distance and clinches up with Dias, looking for a takedown. Odonnell pushes Dias against the cage but Dias circles to the side and manages to break the clinch.
Dias throws a lazy head kick
and Odonnell counters with a three punch combo that has Dias backing up. Dias nods at Odonnell to acknowledge the strikes.

Dias gets in close and instigates a clinch.
Odonnell tries to pull guard but Dias forces him back to his feet, against the cage.

Dias ties up his opponent against the cage and manages to drag the fight down to the ground. Dias no doubt will be looking to work submissions from his guard.
Dias keeping moving, preventing Odonnell from controlling successfully.
Odonnell throws a big elbow that misses.
Odonnell wants to control from the top but Dias keeps moving.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

Dias working from the bottom, still in full guard. He's managed to get a loose triangle. Odonnell doesn't seem to be doing much to defend here, obviously he feels comfortable in the position. Odonnell manages to throw the legs off his shoulder and he's back into guard - no problem.
Dias doesn't do any damage with a couple of strikes from the bottom.

The referee has stepped in and called for a break in the action. We'll restart on the feet.

Dias looks for a takedown. He's got it. We're now in half guard.

Dias looking for a kimura but he'll have to free his other leg if he wants to finish that. Perhaps he's just using it as a distraction technique.
Odonnell is looking to improve his position.

Dias working some ground and pound from close in. He's looking to maintain this position and strike for a while by the looks of things... although he'll probably advance to full mount in a minute now I've said that.
Odonnell is staying active underneath Dias, who seems content to just control the action from this position.
Dias prevents Odonnell from improving his position.
Odonnell really does look like a pencil wearing a pair of gloves. Let's hope he has a gameplan to suit that ridiculous body shape.
Dias is keen to just control but Odonnell is a slippery customer.
Dias looks over to his corner - he wants some instructions but his corner are not responding.
Odonnell has no desire to be mounted, so is trying to control. Dias is working away from the top position though.

The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
The fighters are going at a pretty good pace and they're both starting to sweat now.
Odonnell is working hard here to advance position.
Dias seems content to maintain position for now, rather than mounting any offense.
Dias is just content to waste time from the top position. Odonnell takes advantage of the situation and regains full guard.
Dias must be cautious of submissions here, given that his opponent has the superior Jiu Jitsu.

Odonnell is not content to let Dias control the position.

The referee calls time. The cornermen exit stage left and we're back to business.


Dias stuffs the takedown attempt from Odonnell. Odonnell gets slowly back to his feet.
Dias looked like he wanted to counter with a punch but didn't throw it.

Odonnell feints and then dives in with a takedown. That was a long way out but the feint bought him enough time to close the distance and complete the takedown. Now we'll play guard for a bit and see who can get the better of that position.

Dias escapes his hips to the side and looks to be working for an armbar. Odonnell gives him a little smile and shakes his head. No chance.

Well. There's a bit of a lull in the action here and the crowd are starting to get restless.

Dias looking to shoot here. He's gone for it and he's landed a takedown into side control! Oh, that's bad for Odonnell!

Odonnell wants to get back to his feet but Dias is in a dominant position and won't allow it.

The corners get their ten second warning. Both fighters stand from their stools and stare eachother down, ready to get back to the action. This is the final round!



Dias fakes a strike and closes the distance, dragging Odonnell to the ground. Dias is now in Odonnell's guard.
Dias wants to control from the top but Odonnell keeps moving.
Dias stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Odonnell swivels though and keeps the full guard.
Odonnell is trying to control the position but Dias postures up.
Dias trying to pass the guard but can't manage it just yet.

Both fighters are breathing heavily.
Odonnell misses with a two punch combination.

Sandro Dias is fighting for a decision - hopefully he's judged it right and he's actually winning the fight.
Dias wants to clinch up but Odonnell keeps it at a distance.

Well Dias has outworked and out performed his opponent in all aspects of the game today. He was simply too good and the decision should be no more than a formality. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
