PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a middleweight MMA rules bout between Tomo Fez (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Adam White (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). White has chosen Pursuit of Happiness as his entrance music. Tomo Fez looks tired to me. Hopefully he has got enough gas left in the tank to put in a good performance.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the middleweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 4 - 3 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, Tomo Fez!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, Adam White!
The judges for this bout are , Frank Antenori and Jack Bonds.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Fez misses with a takedown attempt - White sprawls well and throws a nice strike on the way out which just misses.
White with the counter takedown but Fez avoids it easily.
Fez looks exhausted already! Oh dear, he should have come in in better shape than this!

White looks for a takedown. He's got it. We're now in half guard.
Fez keeping his head moving to avoid the ground and pound.
White wants to free his trapped foot but Fez is holding on for dear life with his legs.
White not throwing his punches with enough precision this time.
White throwing shots but they're hitting the canvas more than the man.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
White wants to lay and pray for a moment but Fez keeps working.

The referee has decided to stand the fighters back up, so we'll restart on the feet.

White shoots in looking for a single leg takedown. Fez is trying to defend but White finishes it well and ends up in half guard. Let's see if he can advance position further.

The two fighters exchange a few words. I couldn't hear what they were saying but maybe it's more fun if you make it up yourself. White connects with a nice short shot to Fez's temple.

White wants to control but Fez is keeping him busy.
White is keeping good posture, landing some ground and pound.

White shoots in and scores a nice double leg takedown into half guard.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

White works his foot free and advances to mount.
White connects with a couple of good shots from mount.
White punishing his opponent with strikes.
Fez tries to lock up and control but White gives him a forearm to the face and pushes him away.
White thowing strikes but they're hitting the gloves, not doing any damage.

White looking to ground and pound his opponent to a finish here.
White throws an elbow from mount that misses. Lucky escape for Fez because White loaded up on that one.
White lands a shot to the body, followed up by a shot to the exposed head of his trapped opponent.
White putting on the heat here with some good ground and pound!
Fez keeping his composure momentarily, calmly looking to get back to half guard.
White lands a nice shot to the head.
Fez is in a horrible position here. White smacks him with another shot as he tries to escape the position.
The crowd thankful this round is nearly over.
Fez is wriggling around trying to escape.
Fez wants to control but White is having none of it.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Adam White dominated that round.
OK. That's time! The bell goes and we're back to the action.


White shoots in for a takedown. He's persisting with it as Fez sprawls well. Fez wins this battle and keeps the fight standing. White gets slowly back to his feet.
No luck for White with that takedown attempt.
White shoots in for a takedown. "Ole!" shouts Fez as he jumps to the side.
Tomo Fez has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Adam White.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

Fez wants to sweep here but White controlling him for the moment.
Fez can't keep his opponent in guard - White advances to half guard, no doubt looking to mount.

White prevents Fez from standing back up.
Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here.
White not landing any meaningful shots this time.

White looks to score some points with some ground and pound.
White misses with a head shot. Fez uses the momentum to regain guard.

Fez on his back here. We all know that wrestlers don't like being on their back so let's see if Fez tries to get out of the position.
White throws a big right hand that misses.
White really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Fez. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out.

There's not a lot going on here and the crowd are letting the fighters know they're not willing to tolerate a lack of action.
Fez controls White momentarily but White frees himself.
White throwing shots from guard but he's hitting more mat than opponent.

The referee decides to stand the fighters back up.

White changes levels and drives through with a really nice takedown into side control. Fez looks really pissed at himself for not defending that better.
White has been the more effective fighter overall so far.
White creates some space and throws a big elbow, but Fez sees it coming and moves his head just enough to avoid the strike.
White happy to just control the position for now.

White throwing ground and pound but whilst doing so, he forgets to control position and Fez works his way back to half guard. Good composure under pressure.

The referee walks around the fighters to get a better view of the action. White lands a nice short elbow.
White is nestled in close to Fez, controlling him well. He's worked in a nice elbow to the side of the head as well, for good measure.
White controlling the action here.
White winds up and cracks Fez with a swinging punch to the side of the head.
White missing with some ground and pound from the half guard.

The ref stands the fighters back up due to a lack of activity.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
The crowd are hurling abuse towards the fighters... You can hardly blame them though because there isn't a lot going on in the fight.
White swats away the attempt to clinch by Fez.
White tries to shoot in for a takedown. He's got hold of a leg but Fez swivels and escapes.

White changes levels and drives through with a really nice takedown into side control. Fez looks really pissed at himself for not defending that better.
White throwing strikes but Fez manages to buck up and roll into a nice reversal - now he's on top in side control!
Adam White has got the better of the ground game so far.
Fez tries to stand but White is controlling his head.
White tries to escape but Fez is in control.
Boooooooooooooooooooo!!! God, this has been a terrible round. Come on you two, sort yourselves out!
White wants to get back to his feet but Fez is dominant here and he's now got White's back!
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Adam White showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards.
The corners get their ten second warning. Both fighters stand from their stools and stare eachother down, ready to get back to the action. This is the final round!


White is on the wrong end of a nice combination from Fez.
White closes the distance and clinches up with Fez, looking for a takedown. White pushes Fez against the cage but Fez circles to the side and manages to break the clinch.
Sloppy strikes from Fez. Those never looked like landing.
White tries a counter takedown but it's more of a dummy move, and he uses it to push himself away.
White fails with a takedown attempt from distance.
White is looking to clinch.

White fakes an overhand right and shoots for a takedown. Fez sprawls well initially but White persists and gets the takedown into half guard.
Fez is refusing to be controlled, as White sits in half guard.
White trying to advance position but Fez counters by regaining guard.
Both fighters are breathing heavily.
Fez pulls White in close to prevent any damage.

White is looking to work some ground and pound but Fez has wrist control.
White throwing strikes but missing.

Fez looking for a guillotine here but White defends easily.
White is looking to advance position but Fez has hit a scissor sweep - now he's on top in mount!

White is squirming around, avoiding Fez's attempts to control the action.

Fez throwing sloppy strikes, which aren't doing any damage.
Fez punishing his opponent with strikes.
Fez throwing shots from mount but they're not landing.
White is controlling an arm, preventing Fez from taking his back. Although keeping him in mount is no better to be honest.
Fez looking to control but White is working nicely, looking to advance position himself.

Fez punching from mount but White doing a good job of avoiding damage.
White is looking to get back to his feet - it's going to be hard from this position.
White is trying to stand but he's just given Fez his back.
Fez keeps control of the position easily here as White tries to buck him off.

My god... these two guys really need to pick up the pace or everyone will leave to go get a beer.
White is trying to get back to his feet but Fez has full control of the position and if anything, White has just worked his way into a worse spot.
Fez seems to have improved his submission grappling technique since last time we saw him. Let's see if he can pull off a submission.
Fez controlling from the back.
Boooooooooooooooooooo!!! God, this has been a terrible round. Come on you two, sort yourselves out!
Fez's ground tactics aren't going to win him many fans. Let's hope he's got fireworks for us if he gets back to his feet because he's not doing much on the ground.

Tomo Fez showed his dominance in that final round.
I think White has won this one but let's see whether the judges agree with me. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.

After winning the bout, Adam White thanked all his fans and promised he'd do even better in his next fight. The crowd seemed to love his humility.
In defeat, Tomo Fez stepped up to the mic, saying 'HE clearly bit me on the shoulder'.
