Coming up we have a middleweight MMA rules bout between Steve Staunton (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Carlos Danger (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Both fighters really staring each other down here, as Carlos Danger enters the cage!

Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 6 - 1 - 0, fighting out of New York, Steve Staunton!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 12 - 5 - 0, fighting out of New York, Carlos Danger!
The judges for this bout are Russell Pearce, Bruno Lombardi and John Roberts.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Staunton throws a poor cross that misses
and Danger counters with a crisp hook to the side of the head.
Danger misses with an uppercut. Staunton saw that one coming.
We've been informed that Danger has been sparring a lot of Muay Thai in the buildup to this fight so let's see if that has an impact on the result.
Danger throws out a token jab with nothing on it.

Steve Staunton seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Staunton fakes a head punch and goes low to the body. Nicely done.

Staunton postures up as if he's going to throw some strikes but drops back for an ankle! Danger is in big trouble! He looks ready to tap! But no, he's escaped and dives on top of Staunton, into his guard.

Danger really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Staunton. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out.
Staunton remains in side control and seems content to stay there. It's a versatile position from which he can work both strikes and submissions, whilst maintaining that control, so maybe he'll sit here for a while.

That was a close round but I would say that Steve Staunton will probably get the nod.
