Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.

And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of New York, Joey Tribiani!
The judges for this bout are Lou da Vinci, Jorge Garcia and Russell Pearce.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Salas shoots and misses

and Tribiani counters by moving into the clinch.

Tribiani has picked Salas up - he's going for a ride! Tribiani dumps his opponent to the mat with a thud and settles into half guard.

Tribiani looks towards his corner to check for any instructions. The corner give him nothing to work with, so he cracks Salas with a short hammerfist. I guess that's as good as any advice he could get in this position.
Salas knows he needs to get back to his feet asap. He's simply no match for Tribiani on the ground.
Tribiani is just sitting in half guard, waiting for something to happen.
Salas is trying to maintain the position but Tribiani is very close to passing his half guard.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

Salas manages to create a bit of space in order to work his way back to his feet. Tribiani keeps hold of his opponent and drives him back against the cage.

Tribiani has double underhooks and is working for a body lock takedown. He's got it. The fighters land in half guard but Salas regains guard immediately.

Tribiani is working the ground and pound from guard. He might want to try advancing position though to get more of an impact.
Salas might be looking to lock onto one of his opponent's long limbs for a submission, whilst we're on the ground.
Tribiani is just sitting in guard, looking to avoid any submissions.
Salas looking to control but Tribiani passes into half guard.

Tribiani is pressing down on Salas's thigh, looking to free his foot. Salas is holding on for now.
Tribiani takes a deep breath and rests his weight momentarily on top of his opponent, to control the position.
Tribiani's corner are shouting for him to control the position and he seems happy to oblige.
More stalling from Tribiani.
It looks like Tribiani might be adopting somewhat of a lay and pray gameplan here, which I'm sure won't go down too well with the paying fans in attendance... Or the ring announcers come to think of it.

The referee is asking the fighters to pick up the pace.

The ref stands the fighters back up due to a lack of activity.

Tribiani darts in and lands a nice takedown into half guard.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

Salas wants to get back to full guard.
The referee calls for the fighters to work.
Let's hope that Tribiani has the urge to step up the pace any second now because for the last 15 or 20 seconds he's just been holding on tight.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Boooooooooooooooooooo!!! God, this has been a terrible round. Come on you two, sort yourselves out!

Tribiani throws a loose over hand right and dives in with a double leg takedown. Salas tries to sprawl but it's too late and the fighters hit the mat. Tribiani is in Salas's guard.

Tribiani has the superior BJJ but he's also working some ground strikes into his gameplan.
Salas wants to stand but Tribiani is controlling the position.

Tribiani lands a big shot. The thud that echoes around the arena is like music to the fans' ears.
Tribiani has been the more effective fighter overall so far.

The referee walks around the fighters to get a better view of the action. Tribiani lands a nice short elbow.

Tribiani looking for a kimura but he'll have to free his other leg if he wants to finish that. Perhaps he's just using it as a distraction technique.

Tribiani is just sitting in half guard, waiting for something to happen.
Tribiani looks to score some points with some ground and pound.
Tribiani keeping composed on the top, looking to control the action.
Salas won't allow Tribiani to pass to mount.
Salas is looking to escape.

Still in half guard, Tribiani seems content to control.

The referee has stepped in and called for a break in the action. We'll restart on the feet.

Tribiani has hold of the far side arm. He's working for the Kimura, can Salas defend it? Tribiani steps over the head and cranks it - Salas is tapping out! That was textbook stuff right there - nice submission victory for Tribiani!
