PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a light heavyweight MMA rules bout between Jean Hewitt (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Danger Duck (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Rumors backstage are that the fighters have been paid to keep it standing but we know that would never happen in MMA!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of New York, Jean Hewitt!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 1 - 0, fighting out of New York, Danger Duck!
The judges for this bout are John Kavanagh, Russell Pearce and John Roberts.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Hewitt throws a looping left and ducks down for a takedown. He's got his arms around Duck's waist but Duck gets an underhook and avoids the takedown by throwing Hewitt off to one side.

Duck closes the distance and after a bit of a stuggle, scores a takedown into Hewitt's guard.
Duck trying to control the position from guard on top but Hewitt is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can.
Hewitt pulls Duck in close to prevent any damage.
Duck throws a big right hand that misses.
Duck slows down the pace of the fight, as he sits in guard.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

That's one minute gone in the round.
Hewitt wants to get back to his feet but Duck passes into half guard.
Duck is thwarting Hewitt's attempts to control the position.
Duck thumps the canvas. Not on purpose obviously - he just missed Hewitt's head.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
There's not a lot going on here and the crowd are letting the fighters know they're not willing to tolerate a lack of action.
Hewitt trying to control from the bottom.

Duck decides to return to a standing position.
Hewitt shoots in but Duck avoids the takedown attempt easily.
No joy there for Duck, who threw a few shots but didn't land.

Duck throws a loose over hand right and dives in with a double leg takedown. Hewitt tries to sprawl but it's too late and the fighters hit the mat. Duck is in Hewitt's guard.
Duck not doing a lot at the moment. He'll have to show some more aggression or the fight will get stood up.
Hewitt trying to control the position.
Duck is intent on slowing down the pace of the fight, simply looking to control.

That's three minutes gone in the round.
Hewitt trying to keep a closed guard but Duck is proving a slippery customer.
Hewitt could do with losing a few pounds - he looks very soft around the mid section, to put it politely.
Duck tries to free his leg and advance position but Hewitt is retaining full guard.
Duck throws an elbow that misses. Hewitt uses the momentum to reverse the position. He's now in Duck's guard. Nice move by Hewitt!

Duck tries to land a sweep but no joy.
Hewitt seems content to control from guard here. He's going to have to remain active though if he doesn't want to get stood back up.

Hewitt got a little sloppy there for a moment and Duck has worked his way into a loose triangle - can he finish it?! No, Hewitt has managed to get both his arms back between Duck's legs - danger averted.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
A lull in the action here being met with boos from the crowd.
Duck is trying to control the position from the bottom.

Duck looking for submissions off his back, moving his hips, looking for an opening.
Hewitt loading up with the ground and pound but he's missing more than he's landing in this flurry.

The referee has motioned to the fighters to stand back up. He just wasn't happy with the level of activity.
Boooooooooooooooooooo!!! God, this has been a terrible round. Come on you two, sort yourselves out!
Duck throws the kick towards the body but Hewitt avoids it.
Hewitt throws a big counter combination but Duck scrambles out of danger and avoids any damage.
Duck throws a body kick but he was well out of range there.

Duck drives through with a takedown into guard.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Danger Duck dominated that round.
The fighters' corners scream their final instructions, as the referee calls time. Here we go, back to the action!



Duck bobs and weaves into range and then changes levels and scores with a nice takedown into side control.
Duck working the ground and pound but Hewitt is defending the strikes.
Duck wants to control for a moment but Hewitt uses the opportunity to move back to half guard.
Hewitt pushes Duck off looking to stand but Duck dives back in and keeps control.
Hewitt is trying to control but Duck passes into side control!
Hewitt holds on to Duck's head and controls the position momentarily.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Hewitt continues to stall.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Hewitt struggling a bit here.
Duck trying to control the position but Hewitt is working away.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

That's one minute gone in the round.
The referee tells the fighters to keep busy.
Hewitt is sneaking out the side here. He's bucked Duck off and has taken his back!
Duck is really stuck here.
Duck trying to control the action but Hewitt just sinks the hooks in.

Hewitt is staying calm and holding on to the back position, whilst working on a rear naked choke. Duck is defending well though. Hewitt let's go of the attempt for now.
Duck tries to roll but Hewitt sticks to his back.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
Hewitt scores with punches from the back.
Hewitt is trying to stick to Duck's back but Duck is turning into Hewitt. He's managed to reverse the position - now he's in Hewitt's guard. Polite applause from the crowd in appreciation of some nice Jiu Jitsu by Duck.
Hewitt is working from a closed guard but he's struggling to control his opponent.
Hewitt tries to strike from the bottom.

That's three minutes gone in the round.
Hewitt is trying to hold Duck in close to prevent damage but Duck has managed to pass into half guard.
Hewitt tries to get to full guard but Duck has control of the leg.
Hewitt moves into full guard.
Duck is pushing down on Hewitt's leg trying to pass to half guard. Hewitt is fighting to maintain full guard but Duck has managed to sneak the leg through.
Duck slows the pace down in half guard.
Hewitt controlling the leg, holding on to half guard.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
Hewitt trying to control but Duck postures up.
Hewitt might be looking to lock onto one of his opponent's long limbs for a submission, whilst we're on the ground.
Hewitt is trying to stand.
Boooooooooooooooooooo!!! God, this has been a terrible round. Come on you two, sort yourselves out!
Hewitt is trying to control but can't.

The referee has motioned to the fighters to stand back up. He just wasn't happy with the level of activity.

Duck scores with a nice takedown into half guard. Let's see what he's got on the ground.
Hewitt slips a foot under and gets full guard. Nice work.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Danger Duck showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards.
Well, the break between rounds is over. Let's get back to the scrappin! This is the final round!



Duck shoots in for a takedown from distance. He catches Hewitt napping and manages to drive through into side control!
Duck tries to advance to mount but Hewitt instead regains half guard.
Hewitt trying to control from the bottom.
Duck thows a huge punch but Hewitt dodges it nicely.
Duck passes the half guard and he's now in mount! Big trouble for Hewitt!
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Hewitt tries to lock up and control but Duck gives him a forearm to the face and pushes him away.

That's one minute gone in the round.

Duck stands up from the dominant position, so we're back on the feet.
Hewitt pulls out of a head kick attempt.
Duck keeps the fight standing with a nice sprawl.

Duck closes the distance and scores a nice trip takedown into half guard. Hewitt did well to prevent Duck getting side control.
Both fighters are breathing heavily.

Duck decides to return to a standing position.

Duck shoots in for a takedown from distance. He catches Hewitt napping and manages to drive through into side control!
Duck has been the more effective fighter overall so far.
Hewitt can't do much from the bottom here.
The ground and pound from Duck seems to be hitting the mat more than his opponent.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
Hewitt managing to avoid any damage from the strikes thrown by Duck.
Duck controlling the position.
You can see the frustration on Hewitt's face, being in this tough position on the bottom.
Danger Duck has got the better of the ground game so far.
Hewitt is trying to stand back up. He's worked his way up against the cage but Duck has just dragged him back down to the mat.
Duck tries to cartwheel into mount but he doesn't manage it.

Duck is trying to get an arm triangle but Hewitt is defending well.

Hewitt wants to control but Duck postures up.
Duck blocks the strikes from Hewitt.

Duck is looking to finish here, going for an Americana. Hewitt knows the correct defense though, so he's OK.
Duck working away.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
Well. There's a bit of a lull in the action here and the crowd are starting to get restless.

Duck stands up and beckons Hewitt to his feet.

Duck fakes an overhand right and shoots for a takedown. Hewitt sprawls well initially but Duck persists and gets the takedown into half guard.
Hewitt wants to control but Duck is keeping busy.
Duck prevents Hewitt from improving his position.
Boooooooooooooooooooo!!! God, this has been a terrible round. Come on you two, sort yourselves out!
Hewitt is staying active underneath Duck, who seems content to just control the action from this position.
Jean Hewitt has stepped it up - he knows he needs a finish here!
Danger Duck is fighting for a decision - hopefully he's judged it right and he's actually winning the fight.

Hewitt is looking to sinch up a guillotine here but Duck pulls his head out easily.

And that's the end of the fight!
Danger Duck comfortably won the final round on my scorecard.
Well Duck has outworked and out performed his opponent in all aspects of the game today. He was simply too good and the decision should be no more than a formality. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
