Coming up we have a lightweight MMA rules bout between Bruce Armstrong (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Marvin Zerkle (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Bruce Armstrong could well score a knockout today. He has the power to get to Marvin Zerkle's chin.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the lightweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 8 - 1 - 1, fighting out of Hilo, Bruce Armstrong!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 5 - 2 - 0, fighting out of Hilo, Marvin Zerkle!
The judges for this bout are Micheangelo Fripello, Colin Fray and Josh West.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Zerkle wants to clinch up but Armstrong keeps it at a distance.
Armstrong takes a body punch that cleary hurt but he's trying not to show any weakness.
Zerkle throws a jab but it's blocked by Armstrong.

Armstrong shoots in and scores a nice double leg takedown into half guard.
Zerkle on the receiving end of some nice ground and pound.
Armstrong has improved his flexibility recently so we will have to see if he can use that to his advantage.
Zerkle is pressing down on Armstrong's left leg trying to get back to full guard. He's managed it.
Armstrong passes Zerkle's right leg, so he's now in half guard.
Armstrong working some ground and pound from close in. He's looking to maintain this position and strike for a while by the looks of things... although he'll probably advance to full mount in a minute now I've said that.

The two fighters exchange a few words. I couldn't hear what they were saying but maybe it's more fun if you make it up yourself. Armstrong connects with a nice short shot to Zerkle's temple.
Zerkle is trying to stand.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Armstrong seems very keen to just sit and control from half guard but Zerkle does not like that idea so much and is remaining active off his back.

Zerkle has found himself in a tricky position here. He's been working his transitions in training so let's see if he can work his way out of it.

Armstrong wants to work for a kimura but he's foiled early by Zerkle, who protects the arm well.

Zerkle tries to bench press Armstrong off him but Armstrong keeps the position.
Zerkle takes an elbow right on the bridge of the nose and winces in pain.
The ground and pound from Armstrong seems to be hitting the mat more than his opponent.

Armstrong really does look like a pencil wearing a pair of gloves. Let's hope he has a gameplan to suit that ridiculous body shape.

Armstrong goes for an armbar here - this could be all over! But no, Zerkle has escaped beautifully and is now on top in side control! Oh, that's unlucky for Armstrong but great work by Zerkle.

Zerkle throws a hard body shot but it just misses.
Armstrong scoring well with a low kick there.
Armstrong misses with a low kick.
Zerkle wants to counter the offense by Armstrong and move into the clinch position.
Zerkle misses with a hook.
Zerkle throws out a powerful jab.
Armstrong throws a decent looking leg kick but it doesn't land clean.
Zerkle checks the leg kick nicely there.
Armstrong missing with a left hand there. Zerkle was out of range so wasted energy throwing that one.
Armstrong lands with an uppercut that bounces Zerkle off the cage and back into range.
Armstrong does a little shimmy and throws a leg kick. The leg kick missed by a considerable margin though, making him look a little bit silly for doing the shimmy.
A telegraphed right hand from Armstrong misses the target.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Zerkle throws a nice looking combination but Armstrong bobs and weaves to avoid any damage.
Zerkle ducks under a wild hook from Armstrong.
Armstrong avoids the clinch attempt nicely.

Zerkle gets caught on his heels momentarily as he allows Armstrong to score an easy takedown into full guard.
Zerkle is avoiding any damage by keeping wrist control.

Armstrong postures up and lands some nice ground and pound.
Bruce Armstrong overall seems to be getting the better of the ground position in the fight so far.
Armstrong is intent on slowing down the pace of the fight, simply looking to control.
Armstrong is really dominating this fight. Is there anything that Zerkle can do to turn this around?
Armstrong's ground tactics aren't going to win him many fans. Let's hope he's got fireworks for us if he gets back to his feet because he's not doing much on the ground.
Zerkle is looking to get back to his feet but can't, whilst Armstrong is controlling him.
Zerkle has momentary wrist control but Armstrong slips an elbow through the middle.

The crowd are hurling abuse towards the fighters... You can hardly blame them though because there isn't a lot going on in the fight.
Armstrong chips away with some ground and pound.
Armstrong content to strike from guard, landing some decent shots.
Armstrong passes Zerkle's left leg - he's now in half guard.
Zerkle is trying to control but can't.
Zerkle is looking to escape.
Zerkle wants to stand back up but Armstrong manages to pass into side control.
Zerkle is looking for a sweep.

Armstrong cracks Zerkle with a big elbow.
Zerkle regains half guard there - taking advantage of Armstrong's attempt to lay and pray for a moment.

Armstrong thumps the canvas. Not on purpose obviously - he just missed Zerkle's head.

Zerkle is defending against the submission attempts here by Armstrong.

Armstrong has been looking to land a fair amount of strikes on the ground. He might be looking to soften his opponent up in order to work for a submission.

Zerkle is still in real trouble! Can Armstrong finish him?

Armstrong looking to finish here with some ground and pound. He lands one big shot that has Zerkle covering up... and two more big strikes land, forcing the referee to step in and put and end to proceedings! This fight is all over!
