PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a lightweight MMA rules bout between Cheif Keef (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Mike Kongol (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). I don't know about you partner, but I'm pumped for this one!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the lightweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 1 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, Cheif Keef!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 1 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, Mike Kongol!
The judges for this bout are Bruno Hogan, Chris Dean and Steve Erwin.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Nice uppercut there from Kongol.
Kongol tries to clinch but Keef is having none of it.

Keef rushes Kongol and pushes him back against the cage in a clinch.
Kongol missing with knees to the body.
The referee is keeping an eye on Keef - much more stalling and he will separate the fighters.
Keef blocks the elbow strike.
Kongol is working for takedown but Keef is calmly controlling the position for now.
Keef is trying to work out of this bad position, with his back against the cage.
Keef misses the knee to the body. Nice hip positioning from Kongol.
Keef prevents a takedown attempt there.
Kongol wants to take the fight to the mat but Keef manages to get underhooks and keep the fight in the clinch.
Cheif Keef has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Mike Kongol.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

Kongol is a painfully thin specimen of a man. You do wonder whether a good body kick would snap him clean in two.

and Keef holds on and brings the fighters into a clinch.
Kongol drops down for a takedown but doesn't get it.

Keef lands with a short head shot on the inside.
Keef is trying to force a seperation but Kongol has the dominant position.
Keef avoids a wild elbow strike from Kongol.
Keef has hold of a leg and is looking for a trip takedown. Kongol avoids it nicely though and we remain in the clinch.
Keef tries to land a knee to the body but he is off balance and Kongol avoids it.
Kongol lands a nice elbow.

Keef has managed to pull guard. Let's see whether he can work an aggressive guard. It will also be interesting to see what tactics Kongol uses from the top position.

Kongol strikes from the bottom but Keef takes advantage and advances to full mount!
Keef lands a big shot there that rocks Kongol but he's holding on and managing to survive for now.

Keef has hold of Kongol's left arm, perhaps looking for a submission. The two fighters tussle over control of the isolated limb and Kongol manages to get his arm back to his side and away from danger.

That's the end of the interval. I'm sure that seemed a lot quicker than a minute for our two fighters! Back to the action. This is the final round!


Kongol stuffs a takedown. It's all about dictating where the fight takes place and Kongol wants it to stay on the feet.

Cheif Keef overall seems to be getting the better of the ground position in the fight so far.

Kongol drops back looking for a heel hook - he quickly realises he's not going to get it but Keef manages to dive on top of him before he can escape and now Kongol has Keef in his guard.

The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Kongol wants to stand and escape but Keef is having none of it.
Kongol keeping moving, preventing Keef from controlling successfully.

Keef has controlled the position for a good 20 seconds, which will no doubt be starting to frustrate his opponent.

The referee has motioned to the fighters to stand back up. He just wasn't happy with the level of activity.

Keef changes levels and looks for a double leg takedown. Kongol tries to avoid it but Keef manages to keep hold of a leg and drag Kongol to the ground. Kongol escapes though and pops straight back up to his feet.
Both fighters are breathing heavily.

Keef has Kongol pressed up against the cage and is working for takedown. Kongol manages to improve position though and keeps the fight standing.
