Coming up we have a heavyweight MMA rules bout between Johnny Cage (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Desmond Flannery (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Flannery has chosen Dropkick Murphys - I'm Shipping Up To Boston as his entrance music. The key to victory for Johnny Cage has got to be keeping the fight on the feet.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 6 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, Johnny Cage!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 3 - 2 - 0, fighting out of Amsterdam, Desmond Flannery!
The judges for this bout are Paulsen Ambrosius, Daniel Blasius and Wagner Zegers.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Flannery avoids the head kick by Cage.
A left lands for Cage.
We can't be sure of the tactics at this early stage but we have heard that Flannery has been working on his takedowns a lot in the buildup to the fight and we can only assume he's going to look to take this to the mat.
Desmond Flannery seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Cage feints a straight left to the body, then turns around with a flashy move and hits Flannerys jaw with a dramatic spinning back fist!
Flannery dives in for a single leg takedown but Cage sprawls and the fighters end up clinched against the cage.
Cage feinted there with a counter leg kick.
Cage lands with a nice combination. Flannery backs away looking to recover.
Flannery misses with a takedown
and Cage counters with an inside leg kick.
Flannery shoots and misses
and Flannery takes a counter punch right on the button for his troubles.
Johnny Cage has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Desmond Flannery.
Cage lands three nice shots there - that looked like it hurt!
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!
Flannery shoots for a takedown but Cage saw that one coming a mile off and avoided it easily.
Cage connects with a jab.
Cage leaves Flannery with his face pressed against the mat as he sprawls beautifully, defending against a solid takedown attempt.

Cage lands an overhand right.
Flannery fails with a takedown attempt.
We've been told by Cage's head coaches at North Gym that he's been working on his takedown defense in preparation for this fight.
Flannery closes the distance and clinches up with Cage, looking for a takedown. Flannery pushes Cage against the cage but Cage circles to the side and manages to break the clinch.
Flannery tries to drive through with a takedown attempt but Cage defends well and Flannery ends up having to push Cage into the cage where they will battle it out in the clinch.
Cage throws a right high kick that is partially blocked by Flannery.
Flannery has his hands up protecting his head but a hook from Cage finds it's way round the side to connect with Flannery's head.
Flannery gets his head snapped back by a nice shot there.
Cage slaps away a takedown attempt from Flannery, before circling back to the center of the mat.
Cage was looking to counter that move with a punch but didn't quite pull the trigger.
Flannery tries to shoot in for a takedown. He's got hold of a leg but Cage swivels and escapes.
Nice uppercut lands for Cage. That snapped Flannery's head back.
Johnny Cage is looking to keep the fight on the feet at all costs.

Flannery darts in looking for a takedown but Cage gets double underhooks and turns Flannery into the cage.
Cage scores with a jab to the body.
This has been an exciting period of action!
Flannery has his takedown stuffed
and Cage cracks him with a counter punch right on the button.
Nice cross by Cage.
Cage is really peppering his opponent's head with punches.
Cage with a body punch. A glancing blow.
Cage lets loose with a powerful body kick. Flannery will feel that in the morning.
Flannery shoots in but doesn't get the takedown
and Cage counters with a left and a right that stings Flannery.

and Cage cracks him with a counter punch right on the button.

Flannery misses with a takedown attempt
and Cage counters with a straight right hand.
Flannery gets his takedown attempt stuffed easily
and Flannery takes a counter punch right on the button for his troubles.
Flannery needs to keep his hands up - Cage had a free shot at his head there.
Flannery takes a hook to the side of the head. I wonder if that's got his ears ringing.

Cage uses good footwork to get in and out and land a nice right hand before Flannery has time to react.
Flannery is still on wobbly legs! Can Cage finish him?
Cage scores with a jab.
Cage throws a nice inside leg kick.

Flannery shoots in and gets a takedown into half guard. Flannery showed some decent athleticism there.
Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show!
Flannery throwing shots but they're hitting the canvas more than the man.
Flannery seems to have recovered his senses.
Flannery trying to control the action but Cage is working from the bottom.

Flannery missing with some ground and pound from the half guard.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Cage won't allow Flannery to pass to mount.
Flannery lands with a punch from half guard.
Flannery lands a big shot. The thud that echoes around the arena is like music to the fans' ears.
Cage wants to get back to his feet.
Cage knows he needs to get back to his feet asap. He's simply no match for Flannery on the ground.
Flannery is taking a breather. Cage says something to him but it's hard to make out. Perhaps he's telling him to get on with it and actually do something.
Flannery wants to take a breather but Cage is having none of it.
Flannery throwing shots but Cage is blocking nicely.
Flannery throwing punches and elbows but they're not doing any damage.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Well, the break between rounds is over. Let's get back to the scrappin!


Flannery shoots in for a takedown - he's clinched up with Cage but Cage pushes him off and we're back to square one.
An attempted straight right counter from Cage misses the target.
Cage tries to bum rush Flannery with a series of wild strikes but Flannery uses good footwork to avoid the assault.
Flannery fails with the takedown.
Johnny Cage is winning the standup battle so far.
Cage dances in quickly and lands a nice inside leg kick on Flannery. That did some damage!
The fighters circle momentarily. Cage darts into range and connects with a nice straight punch.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Cage scores with a body shot.
Flannery misses with a takedown attempt
and Cage counters with a nice jab to the body that keeps Flannery thinking.

Cage is really dominating this fight. Is there anything that Flannery can do to turn this around?

Flannery walks straight into an uppercut. Luckily it didn't land flush.

Flannery is breathing heavily.

and Flannery takes a counter punch right on the button for his troubles.
Cage lands a kick to the ribs of his opponent. Nice work there - in and out in a flash.
Cage connects with a lovely jab that went straight through the gap between Flannery's hands.
Flannery shakes his hands off, looking to compose himself, but takes a jab to the jaw whilst he does it.
Flannery takes a jab right on the nose. That must have hurt but he shrugs his shoulders and looks to return the favor.
Flannery tries to move into range but Cage moves to the side and lands with a nice right hand.
This has been an exciting period of action!

Cage buckles his opponent's knee momentarily with a nice leg kick.
Flannery takes a jab right on the nose. That must have hurt but he shrugs his shoulders and looks to return the favor.
Flannery misses with a takedown
and Cage cracks him with a counter punch right on the button.
Cage drops a shoulder and throws an uppercut that cracks Flannery right on the button. Flannery goes down! Cage follows him to the mat and finishes the job with more strikes! Cage gets the win via TKO!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 2:26 of round 2, we have a winner by way of TKO (Strikes). Johnny Cage!
