PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Dennis Pegeant (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Bruise Lee (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Lee has chosen Mortal Kombat Theme as his entrance music. Both fighters look fresh as a daisy as they make their way towards the cage.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 9 - 11 - 0, fighting out of Tokyo, Dennis Pegeant!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 9 - 15 - 0, fighting out of Tokyo, Bruise Lee!
The judges for this bout are Shigeki Sano, Hirohito Nitta and Shigeki Fujiwara.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Lee goes for a spinning back kick but it misses.
Pegeant takes a body punch that cleary hurt but he's trying not to show any weakness.
Lee tries to close the distance and clinch but Pegeant swats him to one side with an open hand palm strike and circles away.

Lee shoots in and gets a takedown into Pegeant's guard.
Pegeant trying to keep a closed guard but Lee is proving a slippery customer.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

Pegeant escapes his hips to the side and looks to be working for an armbar. Lee gives him a little smile and shakes his head. No chance.
Pegeant is working from a closed guard but he's struggling to control his opponent.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

Pegeant has improved his flexibility recently so we will have to see if he can use that to his advantage.
Pegeant wants to sweep here but Lee controlling him for the moment.

The crowd are showing their displeasure at the lack of action as loud boos ring out around the arena.

Lee has gone for a leg lock! Pegeant slips out almost immediately though and dives into Lee's guard.

Lee really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Pegeant. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out.
Lee looks to move to half guard but instead Pegeant has passed into mount! Damn!
Pegeant lands with some vicious ground and pound - can Lee hang on?
Lee tries to hold on but Pegeant postures up.
Pegeant will need to keep those long limbs tucked in whilst he's on the ground, to prevent any submissions.
Pegeant takes a little breather and maintains the position. The referee will be looking for him to stay active from such a dominant position though.

Pegeant lands a couple of good shots and Lee has given up his back, trying to escape the position!
Pegeant is not going to allow Lee to sit and survive in this position.

Pegeant cracks Lee with a big shot to body and one to the head - really punishing Lee from the back mount here, looking to soften him up.

Pegeant has his hand under the chin of his opponent looking for the choke. He's nearly got it! This one could be all over! But no, Lee has freed his hand and lives to survive another… well, another couple of seconds at least!
The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so!

Lee tries to land a leg kick but Pegeant saw it coming and moves away.
Pegeant rushes forward with a series of wild hooks but Lee moves out of range and avoids them all easily.
Lee lets it all go there with a big combo counter but none of the punches connected.
Lee throws a series of punches but Pegeant avoids them all with ease.
Lee dives in and grabs Pegeant's left leg, looking for a takedown. Pegeant pushes down on Lee's head and hops out.
Pegeant fails to land with the punch combination there - jab, cross, hook, miss, miss, miss.
Pegeant tries to land with a swinging hook to the body but Lee was well out of range. Poor timing from Pegeant.
Pegeant really does look like a pencil wearing a pair of gloves. Let's hope he has a gameplan to suit that ridiculous body shape.
Lee goes for a double leg but Pegeant avoids the attempt and the two fighters end up clinched against the cage as Pegeant continues to drive forward.

Pegeant is looking for a takedown here. He's shot in and has managed to get it, finishing up in Lee's half guard.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Lee is looking for a sweep. Pegeant is wise to his cunning plan and keeps the top position.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Pegeant prevents Lee from standing back up.
Pegeant is figuring out what he wants to do next.

Lee won't allow Pegeant to pass to mount.
Lee wants to get back to his feet.
Pegeant slips a nice elbow through Lee's hands, connecting with Lee's forehead.

Pegeant is working for submissions here but there's nothing on.
Lee keeping control of the leg, stopping his opponent passing to mount.
Pegeant is really dominating this fight. Is there anything that Lee can do to turn this around?

My god... these two guys really need to pick up the pace or everyone will leave to go get a beer.
Pegeant perhaps working for something from half guard, or maybe not. It looks like he's just sitting there.
Pegeant has controlled the position for a good 20 seconds, which will no doubt be starting to frustrate his opponent.

We've had a lack of effective grappling in the last minute or so, which could well see a referee standup.
Pegeant wants to free his trapped foot but Lee is holding on for dear life with his legs.

The referee has stepped in and called for a break in the action. We'll restart on the feet.
Lee tries to shoot in for a takedown. He's got hold of a leg but Pegeant swivels and escapes.

Pegeant half commits to a counter takedown before pushing away, out of range.

Lee slaps away a takedown attempt from Pegeant, before circling back to the center of the mat.
Lee throws a head kick that misses.
A counter left hand to the body from Pegeant misses its target.

Pegeant gets the takedown into side control.

Pegeant has hold of Lee's arm here. He's working for an Americana. It looks like he might have it! Lee tries to escape but he's just digging himself in deeper - Pegeant cranks the arm and Lee screams in pain! The ref makes a decision and ends the fight before the tap - no complains from Lee, who is just happy to have his arm attached to his body.
