The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Maia tries to drive through with a takedown attempt but Vercotti defends well and Maia ends up having to push Vercotti into the cage where they will battle it out in the clinch.

Maia fakes high and swings low for a body shot but Vercotti manages to avoid it.

That's time! Maia's corner gives him a slap on the ass as he gets ready to fight. And we move into the final round!

Maia has a butterfly guard looking to sweep but Vercotti has passed into side control.
Vercotti is looking to take a break and control but Maia is keeping him honest, looking to work from the bottom.
You can see the frustration on Maia's face, being in this tough position on the bottom.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Vercotti lands a knee to the body and follows it up with some ground and pound to the head. That will wear Maia down.

Neither fighter has done anything of merit for a good minute or two here and the crowd are not happy about it.
Maia is positioning himself to get back to half guard.
Vercotti content to control the pace. The referee will try and keep them active though.

The referee has motioned to the fighters to stand back up. He just wasn't happy with the level of activity.
