Coming up we have a lightweight MMA rules bout between Raul Lescano (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Aaron Scholes (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Aaron Scholes has the better chin. Will he look to stand and bang today?

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the lightweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 1 - 2 - 0, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, Raul Lescano!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, Aaron Scholes!
The judges for this bout are Edson Gomes, Leandro Rodrigues and Luis Engracia.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
A head kick misses from Scholes.
Lescano misses with a two punch combination.
Scholes takes a nasty kick to the mid section... That should keep him thinking. Does he try and block and risk a head kick landing?
Scholes stuffs a takedown. It's all about dictating where the fight takes place and Scholes wants it to stay on the feet.

Scholes pushes off and circles away, back to the middle of the mat.
Scholes tries to clinch but is not successful on this occasion.

Scholes gets a double leg takedown into Lescano's guard.
Scholes wants to pass the guard but Lescano is keeping the position.
Scholes postures up and scores with a shot to the body and a follow up elbow to the head.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Lescano wants to stand but Scholes is controlling the position.

Scholes decides he's had enough of playing guard and decides to stand. Come on Lescano, up you get!

Scholes gets in close and instigates a clinch.

Scholes breaks the clinch.
Lescano throws a series of punches but Scholes avoids them all with ease.
Scholes tries to clinch but Lescano is having none of it.
Lescano swings and misses with a hook to the body.
Scholes stalks Lescano and leaps in with a furious combination of punches. Uppercuts and crosses smash into Lescano's face. Lescano staggers backwards, shaken.

Lescano gets taken down but at least he's managed to land in guard.

Lescano escapes his hips to the side and looks to be working for an armbar. Scholes gives him a little smile and shakes his head. No chance.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
Scholes postures up and lands some nice ground and pound.
Scholes is taking a break and basically stalling. The referee will not allow him to do that for long.
Scholes pressing down on his opponent's thigh, looking to pass guard. Lescano is keeping the position for now.
Lescano utilising some decent striking defenses from the guard, preventing the ground and pound.
Scholes won't allow Lescano to get back to his feet.

Scholes postures up and lands some nice ground and pound.
Scholes is looking to pass into half guard but Lescano pushes him away with his feet and jumps on top - now Lescano is in guard.

Scholes wants to stand up but Lescano is controlling him.

Scholes wants to stand but Lescano is controlling the position.

Well. There's a bit of a lull in the action here and the crowd are starting to get restless.

Scholes is active off his back here, looking for submissions.
Scholes throwing strikes off his back to little effect.

The referee has decided to stand the fighters back up, so we'll restart on the feet.
Scholes avoids the body shot from Lescano.

Scholes shoots in and bounces Lescano off the cage to secure the takedown into guard.

Scholes gets to his feet - Lescano follows without any prompting.
Lescano is breathing heavily.

Scholes dodges the punch combination from Lescano.

Scholes darts in and lands a nice takedown into half guard.
Lescano is looking for a sweep. Scholes is wise to his cunning plan and keeps the top position.

Scholes is trying a forearm choke… I don't think that's going to do much at this level of the game.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Scholes is pressing down on Lescano's thigh, looking to free his foot. Lescano is holding on for now.

Lescano is trying to get back to full guard.
Scholes is figuring out what he wants to do next.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Scholes is continuing to stall.

The referee has stepped in and called for a break in the action. We'll restart on the feet.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
A few boos can be heard. I'm sure they will multiply if the fighters don't pick up the pace.
A clash of legs there as Scholes blocks the low kick.
Lescano shapes like he's going to throw a leg kick but settles back down.

Scholes closes the distance and after a bit of a stuggle, scores a takedown into Lescano's guard.

Scholes drops back, looking for a kneebar! Lescano looks panicked! The fighters roll across the mat, one looking to finish, one looking to escape. Lescano looks to have wriggled free... Yes, he's got his leg free and he's dived into side control! Good work there from Lescano!

What's Scholes going to do here then? He's in a bit of a pickle.
Lescano tries to stand but Scholes is controlling his head.

Scholes struggling a bit here.
Scholes is looking for a sweep.

Lescano has had enough of the ground for now and decides to stand.

Scholes looking to score a takedown here. Lescano is defending well but Scholes drives through and ends up in Lescano's guard.
Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here.
Scholes content to stall in guard here.

Scholes wants to control from the top but Lescano keeps moving.
Scholes is intent on slowing down the pace of the fight, simply looking to control.

Scholes postures up as if he's going to throw some strikes but drops back for an ankle! Lescano is in big trouble! He looks ready to tap! But no, he's escaped and dives on top of Scholes, into his guard.

Boooooooooooooooooooo!!! God, this has been a terrible round. Come on you two, sort yourselves out!

Scholes working from the bottom, still in full guard. He's managed to get a loose triangle. Lescano doesn't seem to be doing much to defend here, obviously he feels comfortable in the position. Lescano manages to throw the legs off his shoulder and he's back into guard - no problem.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Aaron Scholes showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards.
That's the end of the interval. I'm sure that seemed a lot quicker than a minute for our two fighters! Back to the action. The crowd applaud as we get ready to start the final round!

Lescano swings and misses with a hook to the body.
Scholes keeping a good distance there, avoiding the body shot.
Lescano throws out a token jab with nothing on it.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Lescano is on the wrong end of a nice combination from Scholes.
Scholes tries to close the distance and clinch but Lescano swats him to one side with an open hand palm strike and circles away.

Scholes drives through with a takedown into Lescano's guard. Let's see what he can do from the top position.
Scholes must be cautious of submissions here, given that his opponent has the superior Jiu Jitsu.

Scholes throws an elbow that misses. Lescano uses the momentum to reverse the position. He's now in Scholes's guard. Nice move by Lescano!

Both fighters are breathing heavily.

Scholes working away from the bottom but not quite defensive enough there because Lescano has passed into half guard!
Scholes has his hands clasped together around Lescano's back. He's all about the action.
We get told so often about how wrestlers don't like to be on their backs. Let's see if Scholes can do anything to dispel that myth.

Scholes pushes Lescano off looking to stand but Lescano dives back in and keeps control.

Scholes is looking to sinch up a guillotine here but Lescano pulls his head out easily.
Scholes is refusing to be controlled, as Lescano sits in half guard.

The referee decides to stand the fighters back up.

The crowd are hurling abuse towards the fighters... You can hardly blame them though because there isn't a lot going on in the fight.
Lescano swings and misses with a hook to the body.
Nice takedown defense from Scholes. No joy for Lescano on that attempt.
Scholes is definitely looking for the counter takedowns here.
Scholes takes a step back and watches a body kick go sailing past his mid section.
Scholes throws a sloppy head kick and Lescano moves out of range easily.
Scholes keeps the fight standing with a nice sprawl.

Scholes throws a loose over hand right and dives in with a double leg takedown. Lescano tries to sprawl but it's too late and the fighters hit the mat. Scholes is in Lescano's guard.
