PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a super heavyweight MMA rules bout between James Pearson (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Mijain Lopez (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Mijain Lopez told me before the fight that he's been watching a lot of DVDs so let's see if that helps him in this one! I can't wait to find out!

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

There's not a lot going on here and the crowd are letting the fighters know they're not willing to tolerate a lack of action.

Neither fighter has done anything of merit for a good minute or two here and the crowd are not happy about it.
Pearson is trying to keep Lopez in close.

Pearson tries to kick Lopez off in order to stand up. Lopez Avoids the leg push though and dives into side control.

Lopez tries to keep at a distance but Pearson has taken the fight into the clinch.
The pace slowing considerably in the clinch, as Pearson takes a break from that fighting nonsense to think about the finer things in life.

Lopez's coach down at Soul Supremacy Rio was telling us pre-fight that they have been working on Lopez's balance. Obviously they view that as a key factor in the outcome of this fight.

Pearson is looking to get back to his feet but can't, whilst Lopez is controlling him.
Pearson tries to land a sweep but no joy.

Pearson wants to control but Lopez is having none of it.

And that's the end of the fight!
That was a close round. You could make an argument for either fighter but I would give it to James Pearson.
Well I reckon that's a shut out for Pearson, winning every round. Will the judges agree? They are the ones who matter, even if they are often depressingly incompetent. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
