PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a lightweight MMA rules bout between Walter Dunham (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Devon Walker (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Fingers crossed for an exciting fight - I'm sure both fighters are looking for a nice under the table bonus!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the lightweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 3 - 2 - 0, fighting out of Hilo, Walter Dunham!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 2 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Hilo, Devon Walker!
The judges for this bout are Timothy Bukovac, Don Winkell and Jack Bonds.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Dunham throws a shot from downtown. Walker moves away and avoids it.
Walker with the counter takedown but Dunham avoids it easily.
Dunham throws the left hand but Walker avoids the punch easily.

Dunham throws out a loose jab but Walker uses good head movement to avoid it.
Walker drops down looking to force a counter takedown but Dunham defends it well.
Dunham takes a swing at Walker's ribcage but misses.
And Walker tries to counter it with a takedown but Dunham pushes his down on his head and steps out.
Walker has been working on his striking defense in training and it's paying off as Dunham is landing a low percentage of strikes.

and Walker decides to take the opportunity to score a takedown. He's landed in Dunham's guard.

We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

Dunham controls Walker momentarily but Walker frees himself.

Walker drops back for a leg! It's a sloppy attempt though and Walker jumps back into guard quickly, to retain the dominant position.

Dunham escapes his hips to the side and looks to be working for an armbar. Walker gives him a little smile and shakes his head. No chance.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Walker wants to control from the top but Dunham keeps moving.
Dunham wants to sweep but no luck.

Dunham is throwing his legs up, looking for submissions. Walker is aware though and is defending well.
Walker trying to control the position from guard on top but Dunham is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can.
Dunham throws a couple of weedy looking strikes off his back.

Dunham escapes his hips to the side and looks to be working for an armbar. Walker gives him a little smile and shakes his head. No chance.

Walker got a little sloppy there for a moment and Dunham has worked his way into a loose triangle - can he finish it?! No, Walker has managed to get both his arms back between Dunham's legs - danger averted.

Dunham working from the bottom, still in full guard. He's managed to get a loose triangle. Walker doesn't seem to be doing much to defend here, obviously he feels comfortable in the position. Walker manages to throw the legs off his shoulder and he's back into guard - no problem.

Walker avoids a guillotine attempt easily.
Walker wants to control from the top but Dunham keeps moving.
Walker might have to switch it up a bit here because his efforts to control Dunham haven't been going to plan, at least at the current moment in time.
Walker must be cautious of submissions here, given that his opponent has the superior Jiu Jitsu.

Dunham has his foot on Walker's thigh. He's trying to push off and get in position for a triangle, I think. Walker works his way back into a safe position though.

Walker is taking a break and basically stalling. The referee will not allow him to do that for long.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

Let's hope that Walker has the urge to step up the pace any second now because for the last 15 or 20 seconds he's just been holding on tight.
Walker wants to control from the top but Dunham keeps moving.
Walker is in a good position here but he's just trying to control... And he's not even managing to do that successfully.
Walker looking to sit in guard and control but Dunham gets the butterfly guard and sweeps. He's now in the guard on the top.

Walker can't keep his opponent in guard - Dunham advances to half guard, no doubt looking to mount.
Dunham wants to advance to full mount but Walker doesn't think that's going to happen and regains full guard instead.
Boooooooooooooooooooo!!! God, this has been a terrible round. Come on you two, sort yourselves out!
Walker is trying to keep Dunham in close.

Dunham swings for the body but Walker moves out of range.

Walker wants to take a breather but Dunham is having none of it.

Dunham quickly switches to an armbar and extends the arm! Walker has no choice but to tap, to a very quick submission! Wow, that was lightning fast! Dunham celebrates on the cage, with the crowd.
