Coming up we have a middleweight MMA rules bout between Rafael Zapelini (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Vitor Gracie (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Gracie comes into a darkened arena with his song building. The Pitbull is back! kicks in, the lights come on and the crowd goes wild! What a showman! Vitor Gracie told me before the fight that he's been watching a lot of DVDs so let's see if that helps him in this one! I can't wait to find out!

Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.

And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.

The judges for this bout are Emerson Jorge, Mauricio Rocha and Leandro Rodrigues.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Gracie drives through with a takedown into Zapelini's guard. Let's see what he can do from the top position.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Gracie tries to free his leg and advance position but Zapelini is retaining full guard.
Gracie postures up and lands a big shot to Zapelini's brow.
Zapelini wants to stand and escape but Gracie is having none of it.
Gracie is sitting in guard, working some ground and pound.
Gracie has the superior BJJ but he's also working some ground strikes into his gameplan.
Gracie thinks about going for a leg but decides against it, in order to maintain the position.
Zapelini wants to stand but Gracie is controlling the position.

We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Gracie content to strike from guard, landing some decent shots.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Gracie trying to land body shots but he keeps hitting the mat.
Gracie postures up in Zapelini's guard and throws a big left but Zapelini blocks it.
That's one minute gone in the round.
Gracie pressing down on his opponent's thigh, looking to pass guard. Zapelini is keeping the position for now.
Gracie won't allow Zapelini to get back to his feet.
The ref stands the fighters back up due to a lack of activity.
Gracie clinches.
Gracie has moved round to his opponent's back and is looking for a suplex! Oh snap! He's tossed Zapelini clear over his head and slammed him to the mat!
Gracie scores with punches and elbows.
Gracie is remaining active here, looking for the choke. The more discerning members of the crowd will appreciate his efforts.
Zapelini grimaces as he takes a shot to the body.
Gracie working from the back looking to end the fight with a rear naked choke. Zapelini is doing well to defend. Gracie seems to have got his hand under the chin though and he's sunk the choke in! Zapelini is forced to tap and this one is over!
Ladies and gentlemen, after 2:59 of round 1, we have a winner by way of Submission (RNC). Vitor Gracie!
