Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Marco Chavarria (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Roman Peltier (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Chavarria comes to the cage accompanied by tom sawyer. Roman Peltier has the better chin. Will he look to stand and bang today?

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 2 - 13 - 0, fighting out of The Island, Marco Chavarria!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 2 - 1 - 0, fighting out of The Island, Roman Peltier!
The judges for this bout are Dirk Anderson, Peter Branson and David Hoff.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Peltier misses with an uppercut
and Chavarria counters with a two punch combo.
Peltier tries a switch kick but it misses it's target.

Chavarria gets caught on his heels momentarily as he allows Peltier to score an easy takedown into full guard.
Peltier is frustrating his opponent with some stalling tactics from top position.
Peltier loading up with the ground and pound but he's missing more than he's landing in this flurry.
Peltier has the superior BJJ but he's also working some ground strikes into his gameplan.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Peltier stops Chavarria from standing up.
Peltier slows down the pace of the fight for a moment. He'll need to remain active if he doesn't want to see the fight stood back up.
Let's hope that Peltier has the urge to step up the pace any second now because for the last 15 or 20 seconds he's just been holding on tight.

Chavarria is trying to stand up but he's not managed so far.

The referee has motioned to the fighters to stand back up. He just wasn't happy with the level of activity.
Chavarria looks to land a combination but Peltier avoids it well.
And Peltier tries to counter it with a takedown but Chavarria pushes his down on his head and steps out.

Peltier clinches with his opponent.
Chavarria tries to throw a body punch but Peltier avoids it by throwing Chavarria back against the cage.
Peltier wants to break free but Chavarria has control.

Peltier changes levels and goes for a takedown here. Chavarria fights it off and pushes away nicely.
Chavarria lands a jab to Peltier's midsection.
Peltier shoots in for a takedown - he's clinched up with Chavarria but Chavarria pushes him off and we're back to square one.

Peltier moves into the clinch successfully.
Peltier drops down for a takedown but doesn't get it.
Marco Chavarria has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Roman Peltier.
Chavarria misses the knee to the body. Nice hip positioning from Peltier.

Peltier has Chavarria pressed up against the cage. He's trying to work for a single leg takedown. Peltier pulls back from the cage and twists to the side, sending Chavarria tumbling to the mat - Peltier dives into Chavarria's guard.

The referee wants the fighters to be more active or he's going to reset them on the feet.

Chavarria lands a jab. Then a cross. Then finally a nice hook to the body. Good work there by Chavarria.
Peltier shoots in for a takedown. He's persisting with it as Chavarria sprawls well. Chavarria wins this battle and keeps the fight standing. Peltier gets slowly back to his feet.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

That was a close round but I would say that Marco Chavarria will probably get the nod.
OK. That's time! The bell goes and we're back to the action.


Peltier tries for a takedown but Chavarria sees it coming a mile off and avoids it easily.
Chavarria looks to be in better condition than last time we saw him fight. Obviously he's been working hard on his cardio.
Chavarria throws a combination but it was largely blocked by Peltier.
Peltier wants to clinch.
It looked like Chavarria was looking amped, ready to throw a big counter but didn't commit.
We've been informed that Peltier has been working hard on his conditioning in the buildup to the fight.
Chavarria throws a jab, cross combination which is slipped

and Peltier counters into the clinch. Nicely done.
Peltier takes an elbow to the forehead.
Chavarria jumps guard but Peltier stands there with Chavarria around his waist. Chavarria gives up and drops back to his feet. We remain in the clinch.
Peltier can't get the takedown.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

Chavarria has managed to pull guard. Let's see whether he can work an aggressive guard. It will also be interesting to see what tactics Peltier uses from the top position.
Chavarria is looking to stand up but Peltier isn't so interested in that idea.

This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!

The fight stays on the outside here - Peltier looks like he's thinking about clinching though.

Peltier keeps the fight standing with a nice sprawl.
Chavarria throws a jab to the body, straight down the pipe. Boom. That sent Peltier stumbling backwards but he manages to regain his composure quickly.

Peltier shoots in and scores a nice double leg takedown into half guard.
Peltier perhaps working for something from half guard, or maybe not. It looks like he's just sitting there.

Chavarria manages to escape and get back to his feet!

The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so!
Peltier is looking to sweep but instead, Chavarria has passed into half guard.

Peltier has picked Chavarria up - he's going for a ride! Peltier dumps his opponent to the mat with a thud and settles into half guard.

Chavarria is refusing to be controlled, as Peltier sits in half guard.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

The fighters get back to their feet, the hooter sounds and we're back to the action! This is the final round!



Chavarria fakes an overhand right and shoots for a takedown. Peltier sprawls well initially but Chavarria persists and gets the takedown into half guard.

Peltier has no desire to be mounted, so is trying to control. Chavarria is working away from the top position though.

Chavarria seems to have lost interest with the ground game and is thinking about standing back up.

Peltier takes a hook to the side of the head. I wonder if that's got his ears ringing.
Peltier misses with a half-hearted attempt at a head kick.

If this pace continues, the referee will definitely step in and force a standup.

The referee decides to stand the fighters back up.
Peltier shoots in for a takedown but doesn't get it.
Chavarria shoots in with a takedown attempt and he has Peltier pinned against the cage. Peltier gets the underhooks and manages to circle away.
Chavarria lands an overhand left. A wild punch that just about connected.
Chavarria shoots for a takedown but Peltier saw that one coming a mile off and avoided it easily.
Chavarria misses with the combination.
Peltier feints the counter takedown.

Peltier leaves Chavarria with his face pressed against the mat as he sprawls beautifully, defending against a solid takedown attempt.
Peltier wants to counter with a clinch but Chavarria pushes him away.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Marco Chavarria. That's going to take a lot out of him.

Peltier closes the distance and presses his opponent up against the cage.
Peltier is pressed up against the cage. Chavarria has hold of a leg and is looking to drag Peltier down to the mat. Peltier avoids the attempt though and has circled away. We're back to striking at a distance.
Peltier dives in for a single leg takedown but Chavarria sprawls and the fighters end up clinched against the cage.
Chavarria throws a series of punches but Peltier avoids them all with ease.
Chavarria closes this distance looking for a takedown but Peltier circles away.
Chavarria is really dominating this fight. Is there anything that Peltier can do to turn this around?

Well I reckon that's a shut out for Chavarria, winning every round. Will the judges agree? They are the ones who matter, even if they are often depressingly incompetent. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
