Coming up we have a bantamweight MMA rules bout between Anton Chekhov (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Andrey Tutov (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Chekhov comes to the cage accompanied by КАТЮШA. Tutov has chosen 7B - Young Winds as his entrance music. Both these guys have really solid chins. Will we see a standup war or will they both decide that a knockout is unlikely and try to win the fight elsewhere?

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the bantamweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 15 - 7 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, Anton Chekhov!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 17 - 11 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Andrey Tutov!
The judges for this bout are Dillan Fox, Steve Smith and Alec Ball.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Tutov tries to keep at a distance but Chekhov has taken the fight into the clinch.
Chekhov doesn't land with the attempted body shot.
Tutov is working Chekhov over against the cage.
I was talking to Chekhov's coach per-fight and he was telling me that they'd been working on the clinch in the runup to this fight.
Chekhov prevents a body shot from Tutov.
Chekhov swings away with an uppercut that misses.
Tutov is trying to pull guard but Chekhov turns him against the cage and we stay in the clinch.
Tutov lands with a good tight uppercut to the head.
A frustrated look appears on Tutov's face as he tries to break the clinch.

Tutov's head jolts backwards as he takes an uppercut right on the button!
Tutov jumps guard but Chekhov stands there with Tutov around his waist. Tutov gives up and drops back to his feet. We remain in the clinch.

We can't be sure of the tactics at this early stage but we have heard that Tutov has been working on his takedowns a lot in the buildup to the fight and we can only assume he's going to look to take this to the mat.
Tutov swings wildly with an uppercut but Chekhov uses good head movement to avoid it.

Tutov isolates an arm and boxes in a triangle. Chekhov stacks Tutov on his neck as he steps over and passes to the side. He's now in a much more dominant position where he can look to do some serious damage. Nice move by Chekhov!
Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.
Chekhov is looking to take a break and control but Tutov is keeping him honest, looking to work from the bottom.

Neither fighter has done anything of merit for a good minute or two here and the crowd are not happy about it.

The referee has motioned to the fighters to stand back up. He just wasn't happy with the level of activity.

Chekhov has not gone for a single takedown so far in this fight, which seems like a very strange tactic when you consider that he has the superior wrestling and BJJ.

Neither fighter is being very active at the moment, with Chekhov in particular looking to stall.
Chekhov's ground tactics aren't going to win him many fans. Let's hope he's got fireworks for us if he gets back to his feet because he's not doing much on the ground.

That was a close round. You could make an argument for either fighter but I would give it to Anton Chekhov.
