Coming up we have a heavyweight MMA rules bout between Sergei Monikov (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Josh Meade (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Monikov comes to the cage accompanied by Soviet March. Josh Meade has the better chin. Will he look to stand and bang today?

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Meade lands a left and a right that send Monikov crashing to the mat, dazed. Meade thinks about following him to the mat but decides to wave him back up to his feet!

Monikov is rocked!
Meade throws a jab to the body, straight down the pipe. Boom. That sent Monikov stumbling backwards but he manages to regain his composure quickly.
Oh Monikov is still all over the place! His legs are completely gone! Will he be able to recover?!!

Monikov closes the distance and clinches.
Monikov seems to have got his legs back now.

Monikov pushes off and circles away, back to the middle of the mat.
Meade throws a nice looking combination but Monikov bobs and weaves to avoid any damage.
Monikov appears to be looking for a counter takedown.
Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show!
Monikov showing good head movement there, avoiding the strikes from Meade.
Monikov slips a jab and a cross from Meade.
Monikov throws a quick counter kick to the body but Meade avoids it.

Monikov scores a trip takedown into side control. Nice.
Meade can't do much from the bottom here.

Monikov is looking to finish here, going for an Americana. Meade knows the correct defense though, so he's OK.

Monikov goes for an armbar! This could be all over! Wait, no, Meade rolls with the submission and now he's on top in Monikov's guard! Nice work there by Meade!

Monikov pulls Meade in close to his closed guard and prevents Meade from doing any damage or advancing position.
Monikov will need to keep those long limbs tucked in whilst he's on the ground, to prevent any submissions.

Monikov knows he needs to get back to his feet asap. He's simply no match for Meade on the ground.
Monikov tries to land a sweep but no joy.

The crowd are showing their displeasure at the lack of action as loud boos ring out around the arena.
Monikov is working from a closed guard but he's struggling to control his opponent.
Meade trying to control the position from guard on top but Monikov is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can.
Monikov wants to hit a switch here but Meade passes into full mount! Oh no, disaster for Monikov there!
Monikov is working to get back to half guard.
My spies in Combat Zone [15 Elite & Sauna inform me that Meade has been getting involved in the gym's BJJ sparring sessions. Let's see whether that pays dividends!
Meade throws an elbow from mount that misses. Lucky escape for Monikov because Meade loaded up on that one.
Monikov is squirming around, avoiding Meade's attempts to control the action.

Meade thuds his fist into the canvas! Oooouch!
Monikov wants to control but Meade is having none of it.
Meade trying to control but he's not successful this time.
Meade prevents Monikov from getting the reversal.

Meade is thinking about an arm triangle here, looking to tighten it up before moving to side control. Monikov can see it coming though and defends well with a couple of strikes to the head and some good arm positioning.
Meade can't quite control the action as he would like just now, as Monikov is looking to escape.

Monikov wriggling around on the bottom manages to avoid the strikes thrown by Meade.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

Josh Meade dominated that round.
The referee calls time. The cornermen exit stage left and we're back to business.

Monikov shoots in for a takedown. He's persisting with it as Meade sprawls well. Meade wins this battle and keeps the fight standing. Monikov gets slowly back to his feet.
Meade should think about turning a few of those tyres round his middle into muscle if he wants people to take him seriously as an athlete.
Meade will need to tighten up his combinations if he doesn't want to gas himself out, swinging at thin air.
Meade lands with an overhand left.
We're hearing some news coming in from back stage. It's official - Meade has eaten all the pies!
Monikov drops his hands for a split second and Meade immediately capitalizes on the opportunity by smashing a powerful hook into Monikov face, sending his mouthguard sailing through the air, much to the delight of the crowd. Meade follows up with a right hand that knocks Monikov into next week. He's out cold and this fight is over!
