Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between James McGuiness (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Fujiyama Akagono (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Over to our ring announcer for the fighter introductions!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 9 - 9 - 1, fighting out of London, James McGuiness!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 7 - 4 - 0, fighting out of Tokyo, Fujiyama Akagono!
The judges for this bout are Shigeki Sano, Hirohito Nitta and Yuuki Gou.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Akagono bobs and weaves well there to avoid the strikes.
Akagono steps to the side to avoid the strikes from McGuiness.
Akagono takes a shot to the body in his stride.
McGuiness lunges in with an uppercut that skims his opponent's chin.
We've been told by McGuiness's head coaches at Gorilla Warfare MMA that he's been working on his takedown defense in preparation for this fight.
Akagono bobs and weaves well there to avoid the strikes.
McGuiness throws a hard body shot but it just misses.
Akagono defending well as McGuiness loads up on a big left hand.
Akagono will have to do better than that with his takedown attempts.
McGuiness throws a nice hook to the body that draws an oooh from the crowd.

Akagono drives through and clinches with McGuiness against the cage.
McGuiness is clearly stalling here... Pick up the pace son.
Akagono pushes off an throws an elbow but McGuiness leans to the side and avoids it. We're back to clinching against the cage.
Akagono told us before the fight that he's been working on his elbows. An under utilised technique these days - let's see if it can sway the outcome of the fight.

That's one minute gone in the round.

Akagono manages to break the clinch.
McGuiness throws a monster uppercut resembling something out of street fighter but it doesn't land.
Akagono wants to counter with a clinch but McGuiness pushes him away.

Akagono closes the distance and clinches.
Akagono is trying to work for a single leg takedown but McGuiness pulls him back up using the underhooks.
McGuiness slowing the pace effectively.
McGuiness prevents the takedown attempt.
James McGuiness has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Fujiyama Akagono.
The fighters are pressed against the cage, as the pace of the fight slows.
Akagono has McGuiness pressed up against the cage and is working for takedown. McGuiness manages to improve position though and keeps the fight standing.
The referee is keeping an eye on McGuiness - much more stalling and he will separate the fighters.

McGuiness on the defensive, avoiding the knees to the body.
Akagono misses with a short punch on the inside.

Akagono has moved round to his opponent's back and is looking for a suplex! Oh snap! He's tossed McGuiness clear over his head and slammed him to the mat!

Akagono is working for the rear naked choke. He has one arm under the chin but McGuiness has hold of the other arm. A bit of a stalemate here.
McGuiness is being controlled on the ground here - he must escape this position otherwise surely the end is near.

That's three minutes gone in the round.
McGuiness prevents Akagono from getting a body triangle.
McGuiness covering up well under a series of strikes from Akagono.
Akagono misses with an elbow to the head.
Akagono controlling from the back.
A lull in the action here.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
There's not a lot going on here and the crowd are letting the fighters know they're not willing to tolerate a lack of action.

McGuiness knows he needs to get back to his feet asap. He's simply no match for Akagono on the ground.
You can see the frustration on McGuiness's face… He knows he is in trouble unless he improves his position sooner rather than later.

The crowd thankful this round is nearly over.

Akagono is looking for a rear naked choke here but McGuiness reverses the position brilliantly into Akagono's guard!
McGuiness looking to sit in guard and control but Akagono gets the butterfly guard and sweeps. He's now in the guard on the top.

And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

A close round but Fujiyama Akagono will probably get the nod.
OK. That's time! The bell goes and we're back to the action.


McGuiness lands an overhand right.
Akagono has his head slapped from side to side by a 3 punch combination. That must have hurt him.
The fighters are starting to perspire pretty heavily.
The crowd cheers as McGuiness lands an impressive looking overhand right. Akagono doesn't seem phased though.
Akagono steps to the side to avoid the strikes from McGuiness.
James McGuiness is winning the standup battle so far.
Akagono moves forwards but McGuiness connects with a nice, crisp jab.
Akagono uses good head movement to avoid the hook from McGuiness.
McGuiness keeps the fight on the outside.
McGuiness rushes in with a sloppy looking punch
and Akagono makes the exchange count by landing a cracking kick to the body. McGuiness really felt that one!
McGuiness swats away the attempt to clinch by Akagono.
McGuiness misses with a wild combination.
Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show!
Akagono has his head snapped back a nice jab. A little nod from Akagono there as he acknowledges the shot.
and McGuiness counters with a massive uppercut that badly hurts Akagono! He's just covering up as McGuiness starts to tee off till the referee steps in and stops the fight!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 1:05 of round 2, we have a winner by way of TKO (Strikes). James McGuiness!
After the big win, James McGuiness made sure to do all the important stuff like thanking his sponsors VICIOUS FIGHT GEAR and telling the interviewer how much he loves him.
