Coming up we have a featherweight MMA rules bout between Mary Dunlap (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Darragh McGuinness (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). McGuinness has chosen The World's Greatest as his entrance music. Both fighters look fresh as a daisy as they make their way towards the cage.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the featherweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 2 - 1 - 1, fighting out of Sydney, Mary Dunlap!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, Darragh McGuinness!
The judges for this bout are Winston Howard, Francis DeMontford and Ben Watson.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
McGuinness plants his feet and lands a nice head kick!
Dunlap connects with a leg kick. He turned his hip over nicely there.
McGuinness swings for the body but Dunlap moves out of range.
Dunlap doesn't manage to clinch there - McGuinness circles away.
McGuinness avoids a low kick by using good footwork.
McGuinness throws a combination but comes up with nothing but fresh air.
As McGuinness backs away, Dunlap returns fire with a leg kick that just misses.
McGuinness tries a switch kick but it misses it's target.
McGuinness tries to score with an inside leg kick but telegraphs it and Dunlap is able to avoid easily.
Dunlap takes a head kick and keeps coming.
Some bone on bone action there as McGuinness checks a low kick. Luckily it wasn't a particularly hard one.
A little jabbing left from McGuinness on the counter but it doesn't find it's target.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Dunlap shoots in for a takedown but McGuinness shows good takedown defense.

McGuinness tries a head kick but it misses.

McGuinness just misses with a punch to the body.
A really sloppy takedown attempt there from Dunlap.
Nice body kick from McGuinness.
Dunlap takes a kick to the side of the head.
McGuinness throws a nice looking combination but Dunlap bobs and weaves to avoid any damage.
McGuinness throws a two punch combo that lands nicely.
Dunlap avoids a punch combination nicely.
McGuinness misses with a kick to the body.

McGuinness looking to land some kicks to the body here.
McGuinness tries to bum rush Dunlap with a series of wild strikes but Dunlap uses good footwork to avoid the assault.
McGuinness misses with a series of wild punches.
Dunlap dances in quickly and lands a nice inside leg kick on McGuinness. That did some damage!
The crowd are loving this. Great action here.
McGuinness throws a lazy head kick
and Dunlap counters with an outside leg kick.
McGuinness throws a wild combination but nothing lands.
Dunlap tried to score with a low kick but McGuinness checks it.
McGuinness thuds his shin into the meat of Dunlap's side.
Dunlap throws a body kick that digs right into the meat.

McGuinness swings wildly with a couple of big hooks
and Dunlap counters with a body kick.
Dunlap fails with an attempt to clinch.
McGuinness steps in looking to counter with the mid kick but it doesn't connect.
No luck with that takedown attempt from Dunlap.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Mary Dunlap. That's going to take a lot out of him.
A left and a right from McGuinness both land. Nice combination.
Dunlap misses with a body kick.
McGuinness throws a leg kick but he was too far away and it doesn't land.
McGuinness throws a right hand that Dunlap ducks under and follows up with a left that Dunlap also avoids with ease.
Dunlap half committed to a counter leg kick.
McGuinness tries a switch kick but it misses it's target.
Well, he's not going to score with shots like that. A lazy body kick attempt from McGuinness.
Dunlap throws a looping left and ducks down for a takedown. He's got his arms around McGuinness's waist but McGuinness gets an underhook and avoids the takedown by throwing Dunlap off to one side.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
McGuinness does a little shimmy and throws a leg kick. The leg kick missed by a considerable margin though, making him look a little bit silly for doing the shimmy.
McGuinness pulls out of a head kick attempt.
Dunlap looks frustrated there after his takedown attempt is stuffed easily.
Dunlap throws a body kick, spinning off balance
and McGuinness counters with an inside leg kick.
Dunlap tries to work over McGuinness's front leg with a kick but McGuinness checks it.
Dunlap is looking to land body kicks.
A good leg kick by McGuinness.
McGuinness misses with a combination
and Dunlap counters with a shot to the ribs. That looked like it hurt.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Darragh McGuinness dominated that round.
The referee calls time. The cornermen exit stage left and we're back to business.


McGuinness lands with a thumping leg kick.
McGuinness has been the more effective fighter overall so far.
Dunlap blocks a head kick by McGuinness.
McGuinness throws a combination that misses
and Dunlap makes the exchange count by landing a cracking kick to the body. McGuinness really felt that one!

McGuinness misses with the combination.
Dunlap throws a quick counter kick to the body but McGuinness avoids it.
Dunlap scores with a sloppy punch to the body. Not much technique there but it did the business.

McGuinness goes for a high kick. It partially lands.
Dunlap shoots in but McGuinness avoids the takedown attempt easily.
McGuinness is looking for the big counter here.

McGuinness gets off balance looking for a body kick
and Dunlap counters with a straight right hand.
McGuinness connects with a high kick.
Dunlap lands a leg kick that knocks McGuinness off balance momentarily.
A decent looking body kick lands there for McGuinness.
Ooooh, nice body kick lands from McGuinness. Dunlap shrugs it off though.
Dunlap's hands are dropping dangerously low here and McGuinness connects clean with a right hook that sends him down to one knee! Dunlap scrambles back to his feet.
McGuinness throws a right high kick that is partially blocked by Dunlap.
McGuinness throws a head kick that Dunlap semi-blocks.


Dunlap is rocked!
Dunlap is on the wrong end of a nice combination from McGuinness.
Oh Dunlap is still all over the place! His legs are completely gone! Will he be able to recover?!!
McGuinness is breathing heavily.
Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show!
McGuinness pounces like a tiger and cracks Dunlap with a vicious hook! Dunlap is down but not out! McGuinness follows up with more strikes forcing the ref to jump in and stop it!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 1:59 of round 2, we have a winner by way of TKO (Punches). Darragh McGuinness!
Darragh McGuinness decided to go for the less than humble approach in his post fight interview, telling everyone how he is going to conquer the world. The crowd seemed to like it when really that sort of approach could have gone either way.
