Coming up we have a light heavyweight MMA rules bout between Soylent Grimm (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and John Thompson (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). John Thompson is the more experienced fighter, so let's see if that makes a difference tonight.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Grimm connects with a jab.

Grimm closes the distance and gets a trip takedown into side control. Thompson quickly recovers to half guard.

Grimm thows a wild elbow that connects with the canvas.
Thompson wants to get back to full guard.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
The referee walks around the fighters to get a better view of the action. Grimm lands a nice short elbow.
Grimm thows a huge punch but Thompson dodges it nicely.
Grimm wants to advance to full mount but Thompson doesn't think that's going to happen and regains full guard instead.

Thompson wants to stand up but Grimm is controlling him.
Grimm stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Thompson swivels though and keeps the full guard.
Grimm connects with a couple of short punches.
Grimm has been looking to land a fair amount of strikes on the ground. He might be looking to soften his opponent up in order to work for a submission.
Thompson seems keen to control Grimm's posture.
Grimm postures up and lands a big shot to Thompson's brow.

A few boos can be heard. I'm sure they will multiply if the fighters don't pick up the pace.

Thompson is working actively off his back, looking to secure an arm or perhaps work for a triangle.
A big thud reverberates around the arena there as Grimm accidentally thumps the mat. Hopefully he's not broken his hand.
Thompson has been taking part in the yoga sessions down at Elite Dojo [21 Coaches / 56 cap] . Presumably he's going to look for a slick submission... Or maybe he's looking to avoid one.

Grimm postures up in Thompson's guard and throws a big left but Thompson blocks it.
We may be looking at a referee standup if the pace doesn't pick up soon.

Grimm connects with a lovely right hand, straight down the pipe.
Horrible takedown attempt by Grimm or perhaps it was just good defense by Thompson, which made it look bad.
Grimm has a nice red mark on his side after a thudding body kick by Thompson.
Grimm punishes Thompson's body with a nice straight punch.
Grimm looks for a takedown here. Will he get it? Thompson is fending him off so far but Grimm persists. Nope, Thompson circles away and we're back to standing.
Thompson swings away with a counter right hand but no contact made.
Grimm throws a good cross that connects.
Grimm throws a lazy right hand but Thompson sees it coming a mile off and sidesteps it easily.
John Thompson is looking to keep the fight on the feet at all costs.
Grimm lands a two punch combo.

Grimm shoots in with a lovely double leg takedown. Thompson manages to land in full guard to minimise the damage.
This has been an exciting period of action!
Thompson wants to hit a switch here but Grimm passes into full mount! Oh no, disaster for Thompson there!

Grimm loads up on a couple of big shots to the head that have Thompson scrambling to escape. He can't get free though and several more unanswered shots from Grimm land to the head. The referee has no choice but to stop the fight. Grimm stands and salutes the crowd.

A relieved looking Soylent Grimm thanked the fans for their support and gave the usual line about them being amazing. They seemed to believe that he actually meant it.
