Johnson comes to the cage accompanied by 2pac & Dr.Dre - California Love. Rivers has chosen Cyco Vision as his entrance music. Stan Rivers has the better chin. Will he look to stand and bang today?

And introducing the challenger to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 21 - 12 - 2, fighting out of Montreal, Stan Rivers!
The judges for this bout are Gregory Folan, William Peck and Ian Loll.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Johnson walks into a left hand.
Johnson looks to have improved his striking defense since last time we saw him fight.
A looping hook to the body misses from Rivers. Johnson does a little dance to reset his feet.
Rivers misses with a wild body shot.
Johnson half commits to a counter takedown before pushing away, out of range.
A head kick misses from Rivers.
Johnson drops down looking for a counter takedown but Rivers sprawls and moves away.
Johnson dodges the punch combination from Rivers.
Johnson turns his hip over beautifully as he lands a nice leg kick.

Johnson thows a wild elbow that connects with the canvas.

Rivers felt the need to train up his defensive grappling in the buildup to the fight. Presumably he was expecting to be in a difficult position like this, so let's see if he can get out of it.

Johnson fakes a couple of low kicks, before throwing one on the third attempt. It connects and Rivers has to reset his feet before getting ready to engage.

Rivers tries a switch kick but it misses it's target.

Rivers ducks down and throws a hook to the body but Johnson moves away.
Rivers throws a nice looking combination but Johnson bobs and weaves to avoid any damage.
Johnson feints a jab promting Rivers to slip. Johnson then demonstrates his capabilities by jabbing again. Rivers slips again and ducks right into an uppercut.
Johnson avoids a lazy jab quite easily.
Rivers keeping a good distance there, avoiding the body shot.
Johnson scores with a kick to the midsection.
Johnson blocks a head kick by Rivers.
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!

Rivers looks to score with a combo but nothing lands.
Rivers closes the distance and takes a jab right on the nose as he does so.

Rivers lands a big head kick that sends Johnson tumbling to the mat! Rivers takes a step backwards and waves Johnson back to his feet - he wants the finish!

Johnson looks to throw the jab but Rivers is out of range.
Oh Johnson is still all over the place! His legs are completely gone! Will he be able to recover?!!
Johnson slips a straight right by Rivers.
Johnson drops down looking for a counter takedown but Rivers sprawls and moves away.
Johnson throws a series of punches but Rivers moves out of range.
Rivers cracks Johnson with a hook to the jaw. Both fighters smile at eachother and high-five before getting back down to business.
The crowd cheers as Rivers lands an impressive looking overhand right. Johnson doesn't seem phased though.
Rivers looks to throw the jab but Johnson is out of range.
Rivers throws a perfectly timed hook that sends Johnson crashing down! Johnson tries to stagger back to his feet but Rivers just hammers him until the ref stops the fight! A confused Johnson asks the ref what just happened. Poor fella.

Ladies and gentlemen, after 4:31 of round 1, we have a winner by way of TKO (Strikes). Stan Rivers!

An intense looking Stan Rivers took to the microphone post fight and gave a little speech: 'I want to thank all you fans for coming out tonight, Beaver Jooce! for helping me be strong, Modern Wear Apparel for making me look so good, the gang at Montreal Fighter's Gym, all of my loved ones back home, and Kyle F for letting me fight here in the HMFL!! Thank you!!'.
CJ Johnson spoke after the fight, saying 'Congratulations to my rival, good job! I think I left enough health inside cages through my whole career... It was my last ride for the belt, thanks for all support and faith!'.
