PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a light heavyweight MMA rules bout between Dieter Von Sprockets (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Jason Todd (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Von Sprockets comes into the arena with Rolling Stones- Monkey Man blaring out of the sound system. Jason Todd will no doubt be trying to keep this one on the feet, where he has a distinct advantage.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 1 - 0 - 0, fighting out of The Island, Dieter Von Sprockets!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 1 - 0 - 0, fighting out of The Island, Jason Todd!
The judges for this bout are Michael Johnstone, Dirk Anderson and Sandra Marshall.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
The fight stays on the outside here - Todd looks like he's thinking about clinching though.
Todd closes the distance but Von Sprockets moves to the side

and Von Sprockets counters with a nice shoot takedown that brings the fighters to the ground.
Todd is pulling down on Von Sprockets's head to control his posture.

Todd looking for a guillotine here but Von Sprockets defends easily.
Todd looks more muscular than last time we saw him. He must have been on the weights.
Von Sprockets is pushing down on Todd's leg trying to pass to half guard. Todd is fighting to maintain full guard but Von Sprockets has managed to sneak the leg through.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Todd tries to get to full guard but Von Sprockets has control of the leg.
Von Sprockets wants to control but Todd is keeping him busy.
Von Sprockets takes a deep breath and rests his weight momentarily on top of his opponent, to control the position.

Von Sprockets is sneakily working for an arm triangle but Todd sees it coming and defends easily.

Von Sprockets sitting in half guard, looking to land shots. Todd defending well though.

The two fighters exchange a few words. I couldn't hear what they were saying but maybe it's more fun if you make it up yourself. Von Sprockets connects with a nice short shot to Todd's temple.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Von Sprockets uses his free foot to push down on Todd's thigh. Eventually he works his other foot free and he's advanced to mount - this is trouble for Todd.

Von Sprockets jumps to side control looking for an arm triangle but Todd manages to avoid the submission attempt.
Todd is positioning himself to get back to half guard.
Todd struggling a bit here.

Todd is looking to regain half guard here but Von Sprockets keeps moving and retains side control.

Von Sprockets is looking to finish here, going for an Americana. Todd knows the correct defense though, so he's OK.

Von Sprockets working hard here to secure a kimura but he's not really in the right position for it.
Von Sprockets trying to control the action but Todd is working from the bottom.
Von Sprockets tries to score with some ground and pound. Todd controls his posture well this time though and the shots don't do any damage.

The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

Todd is looking to regain half guard here but Von Sprockets keeps moving and retains side control.
Von Sprockets is looking to take a break and control but Todd is keeping him honest, looking to work from the bottom.

Von Sprockets thinks about going for a far side armbar but bails out and retains the dominant position instead.
You can see the frustration on Todd's face, being in this tough position on the bottom.

My god... these two guys really need to pick up the pace or everyone will leave to go get a beer.

Von Sprockets tries for an arm triangle. That looks pretty tight to me. Is this one over!?! Possibly, maybe, no Von Sprockets has let go of the choke. Obviously it wasn't as tight as we thought!

Von Sprockets has improved his flexibility recently so we will have to see if he can use that to his advantage.

We get told so often about how wrestlers don't like to be on their backs. Let's see if Todd can do anything to dispel that myth.
Todd tries to get back to half guard but can't.
Boooooooooooooooooooo!!! God, this has been a terrible round. Come on you two, sort yourselves out!

Von Sprockets is trying to land an Americana. He has the arm isolated but Todd is keeping cool and he's avoided the danger for now.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Dieter Von Sprockets dominated that round.
That's time! Von Sprockets's corner gives him a slap on the ass as he gets ready to fight.


Todd blocks the body kick.

Todd instigates a clinch.
Todd avoiding damage as Von Sprockets throws knees to the body.
Von Sprockets is really dominating this fight. Is there anything that Todd can do to turn this around?
Von Sprockets has had enough of the clinch but Todd keeps him there for the moment.
Todd is trying to pull guard but being pressed up against the cage enables Von Sprockets to keep the fight standing.
Todd blocks a knee to the body. He'll have a nicely bruised forearm in the morning.

Todd's corner calls for him to break the clinch, which he does.

and Von Sprockets decides to take the opportunity to score a takedown. He's landed in Todd's guard.
Todd really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Von Sprockets. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out.

Von Sprockets drops back for a leg! It's a sloppy attempt though and Von Sprockets jumps back into guard quickly, to retain the dominant position.

Todd is looking to escape.

Von Sprockets is working for a submission of some sort.
Von Sprockets perhaps working for something from half guard, or maybe not. It looks like he's just sitting there.
Von Sprockets throwing punches and elbows but they're not doing any damage.

Von Sprockets is nestled in close to Todd, controlling him well. He's worked in a nice elbow to the side of the head as well, for good measure.
Von Sprockets works his way into side control.

Von Sprockets is looking for a kimura. He might have it! No, Todd has escaped the position, nice work there.

The crowd are starting to boo a lack of action.

Dieter Von Sprockets overall seems to be getting the better of the ground position in the fight so far.

Von Sprockets is working to tighten his grip on Todd's neck. He's isolated an arm and is working for an arm triangle. Todd has recognised the danger and is trying to turn with the submission but Von Sprockets is really squeezing tight and eventually Todd passes out! Von Sprockets breaks the hold and jumps onto the cage to celebrate! Submission of the night, I'd say!
