PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a light heavyweight MMA rules bout between Waldemir Warzecha (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Ali Seyedi (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Seyedi comes into a darkened arena with his song building. Hypnotize- Biggie smalls kicks in, the lights come on and the crowd goes wild! What a showman! Ali Seyedi has the better chin. Will he look to stand and bang today?

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 9 - 10 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Waldemir Warzecha!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 19 - 8 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Ali Seyedi!
The judges for this bout are Robert Douchet, Alec Ball and Steve Smith.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Seyedi takes a solid shot to the body. That one hurt him but he's trying not to show it.
Seyedi's corner calls for a 1-2. Seyedi obliges with the 1 part as he scores the single shot and moves back out of range.


It looks like Waldemir Warzecha has been cut.
Seyedi throws the left hand but Warzecha avoids the punch easily.
Warzecha fails with a takedown attempt from distance.
Warzecha thows a left - swing and a miss!
Warzecha fails with a takedown attempt.
Warzecha lands a right hook to the body.
Warzecha tests Seyedi's chin there with a solid looking shot.

Warzecha shoots in for a takedown from distance. He catches Seyedi napping and manages to drive through into side control!
The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so!
Seyedi is moving his hips around well on the bottom and has managed to get back to half guard.
Warzecha looks towards his corner to check for any instructions. The corner give him nothing to work with, so he cracks Seyedi with a short hammerfist. I guess that's as good as any advice he could get in this position.
Seyedi wants to get back to full guard.

Warzecha wants to lay and pray for a moment but Seyedi keeps working.

Warzecha is going to have to think about doing something other than just controlling because Seyedi is managing to avoid having the position dictated to him.
Warzecha throwing shots but they're hitting the canvas more than the man.

Warzecha is looking to stall here but Seyedi recovers full guard.
Seyedi can't keep his opponent in guard - Warzecha advances to half guard, no doubt looking to mount.

Warzecha is trying to control. Seyedi wants to improve his position but can't escape this time.

Warzecha is looking for a kimura but Seyedi is holding onto that half guard position, so it's hard for Warzecha to get the leverage.
Warzecha lands strikes from half guard.
Warzecha trying to pass the guard but Seyedi defending well.
Warzecha missing with some ground and pound from the half guard.
Seyedi is looking to get full guard. It looks like he might be successful but at the last minute Warzecha jumps into side control!
Warzecha lands a decent elbow from side control.
Seyedi takes a nasty elbow to the side of the head.
We've been hearing good reports from Warzecha's training camp. Apparently he has been rolling around with some good quality BJJ practitioners and has been sharpening his skills. Let's see if that has an impact on the fight today.

Seyedi is trying to get back to half guard.
Warzecha throws a knee to the body but it doesn't do much damage.
Seyedi seems a little lost for a moment, as Warzecha dominates the positioning.
Seyedi is trying to control Warzecha's posture but Warzecha avoids it.
Check out the look on Warzecha's face as he threw that strike - that's one determined fighter!
Warzecha wants to lay and pray for a moment but Seyedi keeps working.

Warzecha in side control, throwing shots but Seyedi defends.
Seyedi avoids any damage from the ground and pound of Warzecha.
Seyedi controls the position for a moment.
Seyedi tries to buck Warzecha off but Warzecha is having none of it.
The crowd thankful this round is nearly over.
Warzecha trying to control the position but Seyedi is working away.
Warzecha tries to cartwheel into mount but he doesn't manage it.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

That's the end of the round. The referee orders the cornermen out of the cage so we can get back down to business.



Warzecha fakes a strike and closes the distance, dragging Seyedi to the ground. Warzecha is now in Seyedi's guard.
Warzecha controls the pace of the fight for a moment.
Warzecha trying to land body shots but he keeps hitting the mat.
Warzecha trying to pass the guard. He's being very persistent here but Seyedi manages to land a sweep and now he's on top!


Warzecha is working actively off his back, looking to secure an arm or perhaps work for a triangle.

Warzecha working from the bottom, still in full guard. He's managed to get a loose triangle. Seyedi doesn't seem to be doing much to defend here, obviously he feels comfortable in the position. Seyedi manages to throw the legs off his shoulder and he's back into guard - no problem.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

Warzecha looking for a guillotine here but Seyedi defends easily.

Warzecha is active off his back here, looking for submissions.
Seyedi sneaks a leg through and gets to half guard. That was like a knife through butter how easily he passed Warzecha's guard.

Warzecha looking for submissions from an awkward position here.
Warzecha is really dominating this fight. Is there anything that Seyedi can do to turn this around?
Warzecha tries to get to full guard but Seyedi has control of the leg.

My god... these two guys really need to pick up the pace or everyone will leave to go get a beer.
Still in half guard, Seyedi seems content to control.
Warzecha avoiding damage under a succession of punches from Seyedi.
Seyedi trying to control from Warzecha's half guard. Warzecha has other ideas though and has regained full guard.
Warzecha has been looking to land a fair amount of strikes on the ground. He might be looking to soften his opponent up in order to work for a submission.
Warzecha not looking particularly offensive just at the moment.
Warzecha looking for a sweep. Not yet Warzecha, not yet.
Seyedi trying to control the position from guard on top but Warzecha is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can.
Seyedi sitting in guard here, content to control.

Seyedi content to sit in guard, stalling... Great. Oh but he could get punished here because Warzecha has locked up a guillotine! Warzecha's face is contorted as he sqeezes tight on the submission attempt - will he finish? Seyedi is holding on here and Warzecha must be using up a lot of energy. Seyedi has gone limp! He's out! He's out cold! Warzecha gets to his feet, tossing aside his stricken foe. Arms raised, he milks the applause from the crowd. Great submission!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 3:27 of round 2, we have a winner by way of Submission (Guillotine). Waldemir Warzecha!
Waldemir Warzecha seemed lost for words in his post fight interview but he remembered to thank his fans and directed everyone to his website.
