PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a middleweight MMA rules bout between Jules Larsen (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and James Dyer (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). James Dyer will no doubt be trying to keep this one on the feet, where he has a distinct advantage.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the middleweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 1 - 6 - 0, fighting out of London, Jules Larsen!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of London, James Dyer!
The judges for this bout are Steven Brown, Chris Edwards and Richard Clark.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Dyer moves into range and throws a lovely three punch combination.


It looks like Jules Larsen has been cut.

Dyer throws a loose over hand right and dives in with a double leg takedown. Larsen tries to sprawl but it's too late and the fighters hit the mat. Dyer is in Larsen's guard.
We could do with one of the fighters taking the initiative a bit more on the ground - they're both waiting to capitalize on a mistake.
Larsen keeping moving, preventing Dyer from controlling successfully.
Larsen wants to sweep but no luck.

Larsen is scooting his butt against the cage and has managed to get back to his feet. Dyer presses him back against the cage, presumably looking to take the fight back to the mat.

Dyer's corner calls for him to break the clinch, which he does.
Nice jab there from Dyer.
The crowd are loving this. Great action here.
Larsen wants to clinch but Dyer slips to the side
and Dyer makes him pay by landing a nice hook to the body before moving out of range.

Dyer closes the distance and clinches.
Larsen lands a good knee to the midsection. Dyer won't want to take too many of those.

Larsen escapes the clinch and we're back to striking.
Larsen fails with a rather predictable takedown attempt.

Dyer gets tackled into the cage by Larsen. Larsen maintains the clinch.
Dyer goes for a takedown in the clinch but Larsen prevents it.
Larsen tries to break free but Dyer pushes him back against the cage.
Larsen has had enough of the clinch but Dyer keeps him there for the moment.

Dyer gets the body lock takedown. After a quick scramble, Larsen regains guard.
Dyer is fighting to break Larsen's control of his arms but Larsen is doing a good job of controlling the position at the moment.
Dyer cracks Larsen with a solid left hand.
Dyer is a painfully thin specimen of a man. You do wonder whether a good body kick would snap him clean in two.
Larsen is looking to stand up but Dyer isn't so interested in that idea.

Larsen wriggles free and stands up.
Larsen fails in his attempt to clinch.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
Larsen keeping a good distance there, avoiding the body shot.

Dyer gets a clinch.
Good anti-grappling being displayed by Larsen as Dyer tries to tie him up.
Dyer lands an elbow just above Larsen 's eye.

Larsen jumps into guard, dragging Dyer to the mat.
Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show!
Dyer makes a bit of distance and scores with some ground and pound, still in guard.


Larsen is rocked!
Dyer not doing a lot at the moment. He'll have to show some more aggression or the fight will get stood up.

Larsen has scooted to the edge of the canvas and used the cage to get back to his feet. Dyer has stuck on his opponent and is forcing him back against the cage.
Larsen tries to pull guard but Dyer forces him back to his feet, against the cage.
With the two fighters working up against the cage, Larsen just misses with a elbow thrown towards Dyer's brow.

Dyer breaks from the clinch.
James Dyer seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
A really sloppy takedown attempt there from Dyer.

That's three minutes gone in the round.
Larsen shoots in for a takedown - he's clinched up with Dyer but Dyer pushes him off and we're back to square one.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Jules Larsen. That's going to take a lot out of him.

Larsen gets tackled into the cage by Dyer. Dyer maintains the clinch.
Larsen is trying to pull guard but Dyer turns him against the cage and we stay in the clinch.
Larsen goes for a takedown attempt but Dyer pushes him away and we're back to fighting at a distance.
Larsen is breathing heavily.
Dyer shoots in for a double leg but Larsen sprawls well. That's going to sap some energy.
Dyer throws a head kick that misses and slips in the process. He scrambles back to his feet and the fighters circle.
A cross from Dyer lands.

Dyer moves into range and clinches up with Larsen.
Dyer controlling the action here for a moment.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
Dyer utilising his Muay Thai to score with a knee to the body.
Dyer lands a knee to the head.
Oh Larsen is still all over the place! His legs are completely gone! Will he be able to recover?!!

Dyer pulls guard.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

Larsen has a momentary lapse of concentration, allowing Dyer to throw up a leg and lock on what appears to be a pretty tight triangle! Larsen is fighting it off but it's all too little too late - Dyer pulls down on the head and he's put Larsen to sleep! This one is all over!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 4:39 of round 1, we have a winner by way of Submission (Triangle). James Dyer!
