The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Rivera has a takedown stuffed.
Rivera seems to be moving with more speed, compared to his last bout. He must have been working on that in the gym.
Rivera has his hands up protecting his head but a hook from Vennamo finds it's way round the side to connect with Rivera's head.
Vennamo closes the distance and lands a one-two.

It looks like Mountain Rivera has been cut.

Vennamo changes levels and scores with a jab to the body.
Vennamo cracks a nice hook into Rivera's ribs.
Rivera closes the distance and takes a jab right on the nose as he does so.
Vennamo moves his head to the side to avoid a jab but walks straight into a cross.
Vennamo connects with a hook to the side of his opponent's head.
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!
Vennamo slaps away a takedown attempt from Rivera, before circling back to the center of the mat.
Vennamo throws out a counter right but Rivera avoids it with no problem.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Mountain Rivera. That's going to take a lot out of him.

Vennamo fakes and then throws a beautiful body shot. Rivera looks a bit winded and takes a step backwards to take a breath.

Nice takedown defense from Vennamo. No joy for Rivera on that attempt.
Vennamo pushes forward with a 1-2 combination that forces Rivera back to the cage. Vennamo follows up with a solid lead hook to the liver.
