PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a lightweight MMA rules bout between Quick Silver (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Sabed Azbuhlev (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Rumors backstage are that the fighters have been paid to keep it standing but we know that would never happen in MMA!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, for the lightweight championship of the world!
Introducing the champion to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 2 - 4 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, Quick Silver!
And introducing the challenger to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 3 - 4 - 0, fighting out of St Petersburg, Sabed Azbuhlev!
The judges for this bout are Josh West, Jeff Smith and Paul Gruel.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Silver throws a combination but comes up with nothing but fresh air.

Azbuhlev has closed the distance and engaged Silver in a clinch.
Azbuhlev controlling the action here for a moment.
Silver blocking some punches.
Silver is looking for a takedown up against the cage. Azbuhlev gets underhooks though and prevents the takedown attempt.
Azbuhlev misses with a punch on the inside.
Azbuhlev lands with a short punch from the clinch.
Azbuhlev is trying to slow down the pace of the fight but Silver is keeping busy.
A short uppercut from Azbuhlev.
Azbuhlev looks more muscular than last time we saw him. He must have been on the weights.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Azbuhlev lands a hook that snaps the head of Silver backwards.
Azbuhlev is stalling here.
Silver blocking some punches.

That's one minute gone in the round.
Azbuhlev leaning his opponent against the cage.
Azbuhlev pushes Silver back against the cage and lands a hook to the side of the head.
A short right hand to the side of the head by Azbuhlev.
Silver is trying to pull guard but being pressed up against the cage enables Azbuhlev to keep the fight standing.
Azbuhlev fails to land with a short punch on the inside.
The fighters are pressed against the cage, as the pace of the fight slows.
Azbuhlev is clearly stalling here... Pick up the pace son.
Silver fails to pull the fight into his guard.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Quick Silver. That's going to take a lot out of him.
Silver blocking some punches.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
Azbuhlev lands a nice uppercut.
Silver jumps guard but his hands slip and he falls flat on his back. Well, he's made himself look a right mug there, as Azbuhlev walks away with a smile on his face. Silver gets slowly back to his feet and shakes his head.

Azbuhlev feints and as Silver raises his hands in defense, Azbuhlev changes levels and drives through with a takedown into guard.


Silver is rocked!
Azbuhlev is just sitting in guard, looking to avoid any submissions.
Oh Silver is still in real trouble! Will he be able to recover?!!
Azbuhlev's corner are shouting for him to control the position and he seems happy to oblige.

Azbuhlev gets to his feet. Silver looking to butt scoot but the ref puts an end to that. On your feet son!
Silver seems to have got his legs back now.
Silver throws a head kick but Azbuhlev moves out of range.
Silver pulls out of a head kick attempt.
The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so!

Azbuhlev gets a takedown into half guard.
Azbuhlev wants to stand up but Silver has a hold of him and won't allow it.

That's three minutes gone in the round.
Azbuhlev working some ground and pound from close in. He's looking to maintain this position and strike for a while by the looks of things... although he'll probably advance to full mount in a minute now I've said that.

Azbuhlev gets to his feet - back to striking we go!

Azbuhlev has managed to clinch.

Silver successfully pulls guard.
Azbuhlev trying to stand up but can't free himself from Silver's guard.
Silver will need to keep those long limbs tucked in whilst he's on the ground, to prevent any submissions.
Azbuhlev passes into half guard under a barage of strikes.

Azbuhlev is trying to work for a kimura. This could be trouble! No, Silver has managed to free his arm - good work.
Azbuhlev is trying to control the action in half guard but Silver is working away on the bottom, looking perhaps to get back to full guard.
Silver is in a tricky position but he's been working on his transitions down at Finch Farm, so we'll see if he gets out of it.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
Azbuhlev trying to mount his opponent but Silver defends it.
Silver really does look like a pencil wearing a pair of gloves. Let's hope he has a gameplan to suit that ridiculous body shape.
Azbuhlev is just content to waste time from the top position. Silver takes advantage of the situation and regains full guard.
Azbuhlev won't allow Silver to sweep him here.
Azbuhlev wants to control from the top but Silver keeps moving.
Azbuhlev passes Silver's left leg - he's now in half guard.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Sabed Azbuhlev dominated that round.
The minute break is over - no more time for sponges and pep talks - back to the action!

Silver misses with an attempted mid kick.

Silver defends well against a solid takedown attempt from Azbuhlev.
Silver went nuts there looking for a big combo counter but none of the flurry connected.
Silver lands a beauty of a right hand that gets the crowd cheering.
Azbuhlev tries to score a power double leg takedown but Silver sees that one coming and sprawls well. That will dishearten Azbuhlev somewhat.
Azbuhlev stuffs the takedown attempt from Silver. Silver gets slowly back to his feet.
Silver is looking to clinch.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Azbuhlev throws a looping left and ducks down for a takedown. He's got his arms around Silver's waist but Silver gets an underhook and avoids the takedown by throwing Azbuhlev off to one side.
Quick Silver has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Sabed Azbuhlev.

Silver dives in and scores a takedown into Azbuhlev's guard.
Silver has decided he wants to stand but the closed guard of Azbuhlev is proving hard to escape from.

Silver has a momentary lapse of concentration, allowing Azbuhlev to throw up a leg and lock on what appears to be a pretty tight triangle! Silver is fighting it off but it's all too little too late - Azbuhlev pulls down on the head and he's put Silver to sleep! This one is all over!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 1:58 of round 2, we have a winner by way of Submission (Triangle). Sabed Azbuhlev!
Sabed Azbuhlev is the new lightweight champion!
After the fight, Sabed Azbuhlev was humble in paying tribute to his opponent but made it clear he wants to go on to bigger and better things. It seemed to go down well with the crowd who cheered him loudly.
