PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a bantamweight MMA rules bout between Jeff Hecker (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Skyler Nelson (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Hecker comes to the cage accompanied by The Ultimate Warrior. Nelson comes into a darkened arena with his song building. One kicks in, the lights come on and the crowd goes wild! What a showman! These two fighters really are very evenly matched on the feet - it will be fascinating to see who can assert themselves in that aspect of the fight.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the bantamweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 19 - 12 - 0, fighting out of Helsinki, Jeff Hecker!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 18 - 24 - 0, fighting out of Helsinki, Skyler Nelson!
The judges for this bout are Tarja Halkonen, Johanna Lukiainen and Anni Minnemäki.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Hecker fails to land with a series of punches.
Jeff Hecker seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Hecker cracks Nelson with a hook to the jaw. Both fighters smile at eachother and high-five before getting back down to business.
A nice combination there by Hecker.


It looks like Skyler Nelson has been cut.
A cross from Hecker lands.
A combination from Hecker does no damage.
Hecker swings for the body but Nelson moves out of range.
And Nelson tries to counter it with a takedown but Hecker pushes his down on his head and steps out.

and Nelson counters with a takedown into side control.
This has been an exciting period of action!
Hecker stops Nelson from passing to mount.
Hecker is trying to stand back up. He's worked his way up against the cage but Nelson has just dragged him back down to the mat.

Hecker is putting a lot of effort into getting back to his feet here.

There's not a lot going on here and the crowd are letting the fighters know they're not willing to tolerate a lack of action.

The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so!

Nelson drops back for a leg but he's not going to get it - he lets go and Hecker dives on top into guard.

And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

and Nelson counters with a nice double leg into side control. Hecker won't be happy with that.

Nelson goes for an armbar! This could be all over! Wait, no, Hecker rolls with the submission and now he's on top in Nelson's guard! Nice work there by Hecker!
Hecker would like to get this fight back to the feet but can't get free from the closed guard.

That's time! Hecker's corner gives him a slap on the ass as he gets ready to fight. This is the final round!

Nelson drops back for a leg here. A bit of a high risk move... He's looking for a kneebar by the looks of things. Now both of them are looking for submissions. Nelson seems to have locked his on tight now - Hecker screams in pain and taps out furiously! It certainly was a high risk move but it's paid off for Nelson, as he picks up the win!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 0:44 of round 3, we have a winner by way of Submission (Kneebar). Skyler Nelson!
A relieved looking Skyler Nelson thanked the fans for their support and gave the usual line about them being amazing. They seemed to believe that he actually meant it.
Jeff Hecker was interviewed post fight and said 'I......I don't know.....It didn't go my way. I'm gonna hit the gym, and come back better than ever.'.
