Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 2 - 3 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, Bob Sappy!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 2 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, Mark Lion!
The judges for this bout are Ron Honeybunn, Bruno Hogan and Steve Erwin.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Lion tries to drive through with a takedown attempt but Sappy defends well and Lion ends up having to push Sappy into the cage where they will battle it out in the clinch.
Lion fails with an attempt to clinch.
Sappy dives in and grabs Lion's left leg, looking for a takedown. Lion pushes down on Sappy's head and hops out.

Sappy decides to change it up a bit and drives through with a nice takedown into half guard.
Lion throws a strike from the bottom that misses.
Sappy throwing punches and elbows but they're not doing any damage.
Lion has hold of Sappy's hands but Sappy slips his arm to the side and lands an elbow.
Sappy not landing any meaningful shots this time.
Sappy trying to pass the guard but Lion defending well.
Lion is looking to regain full guard. Not this time though.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Lion taking some punishment here, with Sappy in his half guard.

Lion looking for submissions off his back.
The referee walks around the fighters to get a better view of the action. Sappy lands a nice short elbow.

That's one minute gone in the round.
Sappy seems very keen to just sit and control from half guard but Lion does not like that idea so much and is remaining active off his back.
Lion tries to roll over but Sappy keeps him under control.
Sappy is trying to control. Lion wants to improve his position but can't escape this time.
Sappy stalling.
Sappy trying to control the action but Lion is working from the bottom.
Lion manages to get to full guard.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
The crowd are hurling abuse towards the fighters... You can hardly blame them though because there isn't a lot going on in the fight.

Lion has his foot on Sappy's thigh. He's trying to push off and get in position for a triangle, I think. Sappy works his way back into a safe position though.
Lion is pulling down on Sappy's head to control his posture.

Lion is working actively from the bottom, looking for submissions. He's escaped his hips to the side and he's going for an armbar! Sappy has his hands clasped together but Lion extends and breaks Sappy's desperate grasp, forcing a tap out due to armbar! Nice BJJ displayed there by Lion.

Ladies and gentlemen, after 2:44 of round 1, we have a winner by way of Submission (Armbar). Mark Lion!
