PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Jurmas Uusisto (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Phan Tran Le (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Uusisto kept the crowd waiting but all that was forgotten when his ring entrance music started. The incomparable musical genius that is System Of A Down - B.Y.O.B.. Le has chosen Dukes of Hazard Theme Song - Waylon Jennings as his entrance music. Jurmas Uusisto could well score a knockout today. He has the power to get to Phan Tran Le's chin.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 37 - 19 - 1, fighting out of Helsinki, Jurmas Uusisto!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 25 - 16 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Phan Tran Le!
The judges for this bout are Paul Tew, Sam Margolis and Donald Grub.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Uusisto moves away from the strike by Le.
Le scores with a hook.
Le throws a quick head kick that skims the top of Uusisto's head.
Uusisto has a nice red mark on his side after a thudding body kick by Le.
Le misses with a hook. Uusisto ducked under it nicely.

Uusisto moves into the clinch successfully.
Le working aggressively here.
Uusisto can't find room to land a body shot as Le controls the action.
Le comes over the top with an elbow. That landed flush.
Uusisto has hold of a leg and is looking for a trip takedown. Le avoids it nicely though and we remain in the clinch.
Le pushes off and fires off an elbow that misses, before clinching up again, against the cage.

We've been hearing that Uusisto has been drilling a lot of ground and pound in training, so let's see if he get the finish.

Neither fighter has done anything of merit for a good minute or two here and the crowd are not happy about it.

Le uses some good footwork to avoid the body shot by Uusisto.

Le throws an uppercut from half a mile away. Uusisto sees it coming and avoids it easily.
Uusisto takes a step back and watches a body kick go sailing past his mid section.

Le swings away with a counter right hand but no contact made.
Le has his head snapped back a nice jab. A little nod from Le there as he acknowledges the shot.
Uusisto swats away the attempt to clinch by Le.
Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.

Uusisto moves into range and clinches up with Le.
Le lands a nice elbow from the clinch.

Le blocks an uppercut.
Le blocks a couple of punches on the inside.

An uppercut on the inside fails to land for Uusisto.

Le will no doubt start fighting again in a minute but for now he's just having a little rest, leaning Uusisto up against the cage.

Uusisto has clasped his hands together around Le's back... aaand, he's got a takedown into side control. Nicely done.

The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

Le is not content to let Uusisto control the position.
Uusisto looking to punish the body of his opponent here but Le is avoiding damage well.

The referee tells the fighters to keep busy.
Uusisto seems to have a rather negative gameplan on the ground. He seems keen to just score the takedown and hold down Le for as long as he can get away with.

Well Uusisto has outscored his opponent in every aspect of the fight today. Only a scarily incompetent judge or two will keep him from a well deserved win... Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.

A relieved looking Jurmas Uusisto thanked the fans for their support and gave the usual line about them being amazing. They seemed to believe that he actually meant it.
In defeat, Phan Tran Le stepped up to the mic, saying 'You must defeat Sheng Long to stand a chance!'.
