PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a featherweight MMA rules bout between Jeff Gorden (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Danny White (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). These two fighters really are very evenly matched on the feet - it will be fascinating to see who can assert themselves in that aspect of the fight.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the featherweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 15 - 11 - 2, fighting out of Las Vegas, Jeff Gorden!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 11 - 3 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Danny White!
The judges for this bout are Phil Schofield, Andrew Berry and James Glass.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
White ducks under an overhand right and circles away with a smile on his face.
Gorden throws a head kick that misses.
Both fighters circling a little - White finishes the exchange with a kick to the body.
White avoids the head kick by Gorden.
Gorden tries to work over White's front leg with a kick but White checks it.
Gorden checks a low kick from White.
Gorden seems to be moving with more speed, compared to his last bout. He must have been working on that in the gym.
White swings and misses with a hook to the body.
White bobs and weaves well there to avoid the strikes.
White ducks down and throws a hook to the body.
White dips down and scores with a jab to the body.

White has managed to clinch.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Gorden wants a takedown.
Some stalling of biblical proportions here from White.

White breaks the clinch and we're back to striking at distance.
White keeping a good distance there, avoiding the body shot.
A low kick from White is predictable there
and Gorden counters with a straight punch to the midsection.
Gorden looks to score with a jab to the body but White is just out of range.
Gorden dances in quickly and lands a nice inside leg kick on White. That did some damage!
White shoots in and drives through. Gorden sprawls well.
The fighters circling - Gorden throws out the jab but it was never going to land.
Despite the aggression on White's face he doesn't fully commit to the counter.

and White counters with a nice jab to the body that keeps Gorden thinking.
Gorden throws a head kick that misses.
White slips a jab from Gorden.
White is trying to avoid his opponent's strikes and get into the clinch.
White will have to do better than that with his takedown attempts.
Jeff Gorden has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Danny White.

White displays some good footwork, moving neatly out of range as Gorden throws out the jab.

Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.
With the two fighters working up against the cage, White just misses with a elbow thrown towards Gorden's brow.

White pushes off and circles away, back to the middle of the mat.

Gorden walks straight into a jab right on the nose. That one stung - he's blinking and trying to clear his head.
Oooooooooooh, not good. A low kick from Gorden lands where it shouldn't have, right in the... well, you know what he did? He kicked him in the penis. He's injured, injured bad. The referee sends both fighters to their corners and White has 5 minutes to recover. He's OK now though... a thumbs up from White and we're back underway with a touch of gloves.
White throws a body shot but no joy.
Gorden throws a jab but it's blocked by White.
Gorden fails with an attempt to clinch.
White displays some good footwork, moving neatly out of range as Gorden throws out the jab.
Gorden throws a series of punches but White avoids them all with ease.
Gorden pulls out of a head kick attempt.
White gets his head snapped back by a nice shot there.
White swats away the attempt to clinch by Gorden.
White steps to the side to avoid the strikes from Gorden.
White takes a head kick and keeps coming.

Gorden misses with a half-hearted attempt at a head kick.
Gorden thows a left - swing and a miss!
White with the counter takedown but Gorden avoids it easily.
White looks to land a body kick but Gorden moved away.
White throws a predictable looking body shot
and Gorden connects with a straight left hand counter down the middle.
We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!
White avoids a lazy jab quite easily.
White is clearly trying to counter these attacks from Gorden with a body shot.

White throws the overhand right but ducks down into a quick takedown attempt. Gorden was covering up waiting for the punch and White finishes the takedown easily into guard.
White controls from within his opponent's guard.
White must be cautious of submissions here, given that his opponent has the superior Jiu Jitsu.

A close round but Danny White will probably get the nod.

White closes the distance, clinches up and gets a nice trip takedown into side control. Very smooth.
Gorden manages to get one leg in to regain half guard.

White is trying a forearm choke… I don't think that's going to do much at this level of the game.

Gorden wants to control here, rather than go for any submissions from the bottom. At least for now.

White wants to control from the top but Gorden keeps moving.
Gorden is working from a closed guard but he's struggling to control his opponent.
Gorden can't do much from the bottom at the moment, as White controls the pace.
Gorden manages to sweep nicely, so he's now on top. White manages to get himself to full guard.

The crowd are hurling abuse towards the fighters... You can hardly blame them though because there isn't a lot going on in the fight.
White has a closed guard, preventing anything of note from happening. Perhaps he's looking to stall.
Gorden controlling from the guard. I say controlling but really, he's stalling.
If this pace continues, the referee will definitely step in and force a standup.

White is trying to keep Gorden in close.

The referee has decided to stand the fighters back up, so we'll restart on the feet.
Gorden misses with a hook. White ducked under it nicely.

White looking to score a takedown here. Gorden is defending well but White drives through and ends up in Gorden's guard.
Gorden is controlling White's posture.
Gorden is working the butterfly guard. He manages to land a nice scissor sweep and is now in half guard on the top. Nice move.

White is working for an escape here. He's hooked one of Gorden's legs and he's managed to sneak out and take Gorden's back!

Gorden just trying to survive but White is wriggling into a better position, looking to finish.
White is throwing strikes from the back here. Oh that last one was to the back of the head. White gets a warning from the referee. He throws another strike to the back of the head straight away though and the referee has seen enough. He breaks up the two fighters and stands them back up. White gets a real talking to here and is lucky not to get a point deducted. White apologises and we restart here on the feet.

Danny White is looking to throw some combinations by the looks of things.
The crowd thankful this round is nearly over.

Gorden leaves White with his face pressed against the mat as he sprawls beautifully, defending against a solid takedown attempt.

Danny White showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards.
The fighters' corners scream their final instructions, as the referee calls time. Here we go, back to the action! This is the final round!

Gorden's corner calls for a 1-2. Gorden obliges with the 1 part as he scores the single shot and moves back out of range.
Gorden throws out a loose jab but White uses good head movement to avoid it.
White just misses with a punch to the body.
Gorden has a nice red mark on his side after a thudding body kick by White.
White misses with a wild combination.
Gorden fails to land with the punch combination there - jab, cross, hook, miss, miss, miss.
Gorden throws out a powerful jab.

White lands a pitter patter jab to the forehead of his opponent.
White is throwing a lot of body shots here, looking to wear down Gorden rather than just go for the knockout.
White shoots in for a takedown. "Ole!" shouts Gorden as he jumps to the side.
It looked like Gorden was trying to counter with a body shot coming off that last attack from White.
Gorden works his jab well there, keeping his opponent at a distance.

Gorden throws a wild body kick that White sees coming a mile off.
Jeff Gorden is winning the standup battle so far.
Gorden throws a sloppy head kick and White moves out of range easily.
White fails to land with a series of punches.
Gorden is looking to counter with a shot to the body.
Jeff Gorden seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Gorden lands a really nice looking cross but White seems unphased.
Gorden works White's body with a nice hook.
Gorden throws a hook to the side of White's head but White sees it coming and ducks under it beautifully.
Gorden swats away the attempt to clinch by White.
White has his hands up protecting his head but a hook from Gorden finds it's way round the side to connect with White's head.
Gorden connects with a lovely right hand, straight down the pipe.
White scores with a spinning back kick!
White shoots in for a takedown but doesn't get it.
Danny White is fighting for a decision - hopefully he's judged it right and he's actually winning the fight.

Gorden throws a head kick but White moves out of range.
Gorden slips a jab and a cross from White.

Gorden closes the distance and presses his opponent up against the cage.
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!

White's corner are urging him to control the action in the clinch for a moment, rather than mount any serious offense. I'm sure the crowd appreciate those instructions... not.

Jeff Gorden showed his dominance in that final round.
I think White has won this one but let's see whether the judges agree with me. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.

A less than humble Danny White misjudged his post fight interview somewhat and came across a little too arrogant whilst trying to hype up his own abilities.
