The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
De Villefort wants to clinch.
De Villefort misses with a right hand
enabling Hanlon to counter with a crisp jab.
It looks like Gerard De Villefort has been cut.
De Villefort moves into the clinch.
Hanlon lands with a short shot to the head.
Hanlon breaks the clinch and we return to the middle of the mat.
Hanlon misses with a two punch combination.
De Villefort tries to clinch but is not successful on this occasion.
De Villefort rushes Hanlon and presses him up against the cage.
De Villefort is looking for a takedown up against the cage. Hanlon gets underhooks though and prevents the takedown attempt.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

De Villefort wants to take the fight to the mat but Hanlon manages to get underhooks and keep the fight in the clinch.
Hanlon breaks the clinch and we return to the middle of the mat.

De Villefort throws an ugly left hook that misses
and Hanlon counters with a left and a right that stings De Villefort.
Gerard De Villefort seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
De Villefort has managed to clinch.
De Villefort drops down for a takedown but doesn't get it.
Mark Hanlon has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Gerard De Villefort.

De Villefort goes for a takedown attempt but Hanlon pushes him away and we're back to fighting at a distance.
De Villefort tries to close the distance and clinch up but Hanlon swats him away and circles back towards the center.

and Hanlon counters with a series of strikes that sends De Villefort to the canvas! Hanlon follows down into guard, looking to finish the fight!

Hanlon throwing elbows and punches but not connecting, as De Villefort works some decent striking defense from the bottom.
Hanlon stands up over De Villefort, holding his feet. He dives back in and lands a decent shot to the head.
The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here.
Hammerfist, elbow! yells Hanlon's corner. There ya go! There ya go!
De Villefort has his foot on Hanlon's thigh. He's trying to push off and get in position for a triangle, I think. Hanlon works his way back into a safe position though.
Hanlon lands a couple of decent looking shots.

The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
De Villefort has momentary wrist control but Hanlon slips an elbow through the middle.

De Villefort working from the bottom, still in full guard. He's managed to get a loose triangle. Hanlon doesn't seem to be doing much to defend here, obviously he feels comfortable in the position. Hanlon manages to throw the legs off his shoulder and he's back into guard - no problem.

De Villefort utilising some decent striking defenses from the guard, preventing the ground and pound.

De Villefort is looking for a triangle but Hanlon pushes his legs off easily.
De Villefort throws his legs up looking to secure a triangle. Oh, that looks pretty tight, I gotta say! Hanlon escapes and throws De Villefort's legs to the side, diving into side control!
De Villefort tries to get back to half guard but can't.
Hanlon looking for an arm triangle but it's way too loose to do anything.
Hanlon looks up at the clock and then as De Villefort takes his cue and looks up at the clock too, Hanlon smacks him right in the chops with a big elbow! How rude!
That's four minutes gone in the round.
De Villefort throws an elbow to the body but it doesn't land.
Hanlon lands a nice forearm strike.
Hanlon thinks about going for a far side armbar but bails out and retains the dominant position instead.
Hanlon cracks De Villefort with a big right hand but De Villefort just smiles back at him and invites him to have another go.
De Villefort tries to get back to half guard but can't.
De Villefort keeps trying to improve his position.
Hanlon creates a bit of distance and throws down some hard shots.

Hanlon lands a knee to the body and follows it up with some ground and pound to the head. That will wear De Villefort down.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.
Mark Hanlon dominated that round.
Both fighters have cut men working on them during the interval.
The referee calls time. The cornermen exit stage left and we're back to business.
De Villefort throws an ugly left hook that misses
and Hanlon comes in over the top with a devastating right hand! De Villefort stumbles back against the cage, looking to regain his senses but Hanlon is on him like rabid pit bull! De Villefort slumps to the ground under a storm of punches and this fight is over!
Ladies and gentlemen, after 0:05 of round 2, we have a winner by way of TKO (Strikes). Mark Hanlon!
