Coming up we have a middleweight MMA rules bout between Alexander Pichushkin (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Bob Backlund (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Pichushkin comes to the cage accompanied by Sacred Reich - Rest in Peace. Rumors backstage are that the fighters have been paid to keep it standing but we know that would never happen in MMA!

And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 5 - 6 - 0, fighting out of Hilo, Bob Backlund!
The judges for this bout are Roger Salmon, Jeff Smith and Josh West.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Backlund shoots in for a takedown from distance. He catches Pichushkin napping and manages to drive through into side control!
Backlund tries to move to mount but Pichushkin blocks the move with his legs.
Pichushkin gets back to half guard.

Backlund seems to be working for a kimura but Pichushkin defends the submission attempt.
Backlund is thwarting Pichushkin's attempts to control the position.

Backlund winds up and cracks Pichushkin with a swinging punch to the side of the head.

Backlund is looking for a kimura but Pichushkin is holding onto that half guard position, so it's hard for Backlund to get the leverage.

Backlund works his foot free and advances to mount.
Pichushkin can't escape the position.
Backlund lands a shot to the body, followed up by a shot to the exposed head of his trapped opponent.

It looks like Alexander Pichushkin has been cut.

Backlund has the superior BJJ but he's also working some ground strikes into his gameplan.

Backlund is working for the choke. He's slipped one arm under the chin. Pichushkin has to defend the other arm for all he's worth... but Backlund has managed to get that arm free too and he's tightening the choke! Pichushkin taps out and looks absolutely disgusted with himself. Backlund doesn't care though - he's delighted!

A less than humble Bob Backlund misjudged his post fight interview somewhat and came across a little too arrogant whilst trying to hype up his own abilities.
