Coming up we have a super heavyweight kickboxing rules bout between Tom Thadani (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Sam Makatua (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Both these guys have solid standup skills and neither is particularly fantastic on the ground, so let's hope for a nice standup war!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 5 rounds, in the super heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of
9 - 6 - 1, fighting out of St Petersburg, Tom Thadani!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of
5 - 9 - 0, fighting out of Amsterdam, Sam Makatua!
The judges for this bout are Paulsen Ambrosius, Wagner Zegers and Radbod Blank.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Makatua throws out a powerful jab.
Thadani throws a chopping leg kick but Makatua manages to avoid taking any serious damage.
Makatua misses with a body kick.
Thadani displays some good footwork, moving neatly out of range as Makatua throws out the jab.
Thadani tried to counter with a leg kick but Makatua avoided it.
Makatua fakes a jab and throws a low kick but Thadani checks it well.
Makatua looks more muscular than last time we saw him. He must have been on the weights.
Makatua wants to slow Thadani down by chopping away at his legs.
Thadani gets his head snapped back by a nice shot there.
Makatua checks the leg kick.
Thadani has been working on his boxing with his coaches at gym closing in the buildup to the fight.
A punch combination from Makatua misses.
Makatua goes for a spinning back kick but it misses.
Thadani pulls out of a head kick attempt.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
A clash of legs there as Makatua blocks the low kick.
Thadani fakes a couple of low kicks, before throwing one on the third attempt. It connects and Makatua has to reset his feet before getting ready to engage.
Thadani tries to land a front kick but Makatua steps back. That was a bit too telegraphed.
Thadani checks a leg kick.
Thadani takes a step back and watches a body kick go sailing past his mid section.
And Thadani counters with a quick kick to the body but Makatua blocks it.
That's one minute gone in the round.
Makatua lands with a head kick! That's gotta hurt.
It looks like Tom Thadani has been cut.
Makatua closes the distance and catches Thadani with a lead hook that drops him to the canvas! Thadani is clearly dazed and struggling here! 3,4,5,6,7 and Thadani is up to his feet but the referee has called it off! Thadani is still far too wobbly and he's not going to allow the fight to continue! Makatua takes it!
Ladies and gentlemen, after 1:11 of round 1, we have a winner by way of TKO (Punch). Sam Makatua!
